Art Matters: Because Your Imagination Can Change the World based on 0 ratings. 2 reviews.
This was really good. Liked the illustrations and the poems, especailly the ones about the libraries and reading of course. Really should read some Neil Gaiman books since I have heard of before and seen some of the books on shelves.
This book is broken down into four chapter in which Neil “explores how reading, imagining, and creating can change the world.” The topics are different yet they carry the same theme, how our imagination can make a difference. Neil hits upon how we should all embrace the uniqueness within us. I liked how Neil talked about individual’s rights. How we have the right to be heard, the right to feel the way we do, the right to be wrong, and the right to have ideas and express ourselves. I felt that this section was important as it didn’t tell us that our own ideas were right or superior, just that we had the right to have these. I wish everyone would just consider there are others in the world with these rights and not be so self-centered in their thinking and views. Neil also talks about the importance of libraries and librarians. He talks a great deal about following your dreams. We all have dreams and whether we follow them or not, he knows it won’t be easy. This is a short, small book that’s inspiring to read. The artwork inside is charming and a great addition to the book.
