I love this movie. It's scary and funny at the same time. Bob Hope is timeless.

I too saw this first as a kid on Saturday afternoon movies, and have loved it ever since. It's one I can watch over and over - even if I just saw it, I can pop it in and watch it again. Hope and Goddard work so well together, the supporting cast is outstanding, the humor just keeps coming, and the spooky atmosphere, ghosts, zombies, murders, haunted castles and the like just add to the fun. I believe this was the second pairing of these two stars - following the success of The Cat and The Canary, which is equally good, also includes spooky atmosphere, murder, secret passages, midnight reading of a will, and all the classic cliches, offset by Hope's wisecracks. I wish this one was also available on dvd - it's a toss up which movie I like more - I guess it depends which one I'm watching at the time.

Apart from The Cat and the Canary, this is my favorite Bob Hope film. It is great fun with wonderful locales and spooky effects. If you are a "classics" fan, don't miss this gem of a film. The dialogue is suberb and wonderfully delivered. They don't write scripts like this anymore.

This is one of Bob Hope's best! Provides a great laugh escape from life's daily trials and tribulations. Saw this first as a kid on the Saturday afternoon TV movies and have never tired of seeing it over the years. Just thinking about his memorable scene with the steamer trunk brings a smile. Truly timeless family entertainment.

On a cold cloudy day, with a tub of butter popcorn and Ghost Breakers in the VCR, what could be better!?! The beginning of the movie sets the tone for this entire picture, from Raspy coming to visit Larry Laurence to give him the scoop on what's going down in the mobster's world, to the thunder storm that takes out the electricity, and a murder at the hotel where Larry is going to a command meeting from a mobster. And all this happens before Hope, Goddard and Best arrive in Cuba to battle ghosts, zombies, and the unknown people that doesn't want Goddard to claim her inheritance. This is a movie with laughter, suspense and better yet, one that you can sit down with the entire family to enjoy! This film shows why Hope is still one of the best-loved entertainers.
