Finding My Reflection: A Caregiver's Perspective on Life Lessons Learned Too Late... based on 0 ratings. 1 reviews.
I will first share that I'm not a long book reader, so this is a book just for me. Short memoir entries are so my thing. This is can be a quick read or you can take it a little bite at a time. Are you looking to learn more behind the scenes of someone who has suffered the grief of caring for their loved one as they watch and serve a loved one suffering from ALS? This is the book for you. Have you yourself lost a loved one, this is for you. Do you not have a loved one who has died or is ding from terminal illness. Well, this is still the book for you. The connection I had with the grief she experience was because of my dad who died from complications of diabetes. The grief is still real. The loss is similar. The story is so very different. Katie takes you to the deep dark corners of her existence that doesn't just go away now that her husband has died. Waking up and doing the day to day is sometimes the most reflective and growing times. Her writing is different then the normal sentence structure, but that's OK. It makes me feel like I am hearing her share this story. In the world we live in now nothing has to be grammar specific to get the thoughts across. Don't get me wrong, she is very intelligent and I even had to look up a few words. Don't hesitate if you think this is a book for you. A moving quote is the following "if necessity is the mother of invention, it is the stepmother of survival". I'm hoping there is a second book!
