Terri & Nate have great chemistry. Throw in old gossip & old murder you get a great read.

Terri returns home from an errand in the city to find a stranger in her aunt’s house, where she’s been living. Too frustrated from her errand that appears to be a ‘wild goose chase’ and a list of things to be done around the lakeside resort she and her father manage, she’s not interested in the how’s or whys, or even the who. She just wants him gone. Nate has been ‘sent’ to stay with Terri by his ‘uncle’ and friend of Terri’s father. After years spent in remote locations with Kit, a diplomat, he was feeling strangled at his desk job with the CIA, and since Summer Hill is his fiancés home-town, he’s arrived to get a feel for the place and see his new offices, where he’ll be working in financial management. While Terri is a ‘home town girl’ the gossip and innuendo after her mother disappeared without a trace when she was young is never ending, and she’s always been aware of the ‘rift’ between the affluent ‘town folk’ and the less so ‘lake people’. This attitude has always been on her mind, and a few incidents when she was younger have her avoiding the townspeople whenever possible, and concentrating on the multitude of tasks that require her to sort them out at the lake. But Nate is different – engaged to the “town’s sweetheart’ and mayor’s daughter, he’s drawn to Terri and her lack of pretension, her work ethic and her ability to think clearly without being in the least concerned about ‘what others think’. At least as far as he can see. He can’t picture his fiancé doing any of the things Terri does, and her more relaxed approach to life and what comes along is intriguing. But there are troubles with vandalism, the usual summer upsets, and the fact that everyone has connected Nate and Terri together – even when she’s trying desperately to keep their connection in the background. With a long-cold mystery tied to her mother’s death, danger and even some newly whispered innuendo from the worst gossip in town have Terri thinking about leaving town to never come back, it will take Nate with his connections, some clear and tough talk to the gossips, and a bit of ‘distance and time’ for his fiancé to realize that the boys that Terri beat senseless in high school were actually in the wrong. Lots of opportunity for growth and sharing, a couple made for one another and a real opportunity for Nate’s fiancé to see just how much better her life and love will be with another made this a story that was jam packed with moments, and plenty of heart. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Terri isn't your typical lake girl... in charge of the rental cabins at Lake Kissel...and the beach, and the events and the short, she's her dad's right-hand woman. She's happy, she thinks, until her space is invaded by Nate Taggert, who is supposed to marry the town sweetheart and join a financial management firm. Before all that starts, he turns out to be just the help Terri needs at the lake. One could say he's indispensable! Solving the mystery of Terri’s life and the lake is only one of his tasks. I received this book from NetGalley.

Terri Rayburn has lived all of her life in the shadow of her mom’s supposed mistakes. Living in a small town everyone either knows your business or they attempt to find out your business. Terri has no desire to be the center of anymore town gossip so she stays at Lake Kissel and helps her dad run the resort there. Life for the most part goes as expected for Terri until she comes home from a trip and finds Nate Taggert, a handsome, yet unexpected houseguest… Despite their bumpy beginning, they come to a mutual arrangement and as time passes by at the lake, Terri and Nate develop an unexpected close friendship. The more time Nate spends at the lake, the more stories he hears about Terri and her mother. Nate being the curious sort decides to investigate the gossip and find out the truth behind it all. Terri is easy to like. She’s resilient, smart, has a very thick skin, and is dedicated to her dad. She needs someone who is resourceful, independent, and warm. Enter Nate, her ideal man. The only problem with that is he’s already taken. Nate is engaged to the mayor’s daughter. Just when Terri thought the universe might be doing her a solid, reality tells her to think otherwise. Even though Nate is taken, could he still be the one for her? And what happens to their friendship when his fiancée comes back into town? Nate is a people person. If someone spends 10 minutes in his company, they leave liking him. He’s smart, hardworking, and not afraid of a challenge. He’s had the opportunity to travel the world for work, but now that he is getting married, he’s planning on settling down in his fiancée’s hometown of Summer Hill. Even though future plans may be laid out for him, he isn’t completely sure of some things. This was my first time reading a book by this author and I’m glad I decided to go for it. Met Her Match is a sweet and easy summertime romance to fall in love with. The author does a great job of writing a romance that held my interest from the very beginning and had unique and realistic characters that added to the overall story. If you enjoy small town romances, then definitely check out Met Her Match. RATING: 3½-4 out of 5. **Even though I received this book on behalf of the Publisher, the thoughts and opinions expressed are solely my own.**

I think this is the first book I have read by Jude Deveraux. Glad I did. Good characters, good story, even a bit of mystery that wasn’t expected. Definitely an author to read in my future.

What a great story! The characters and the mystery kept me reading late into the night/next morning. Some of the townspeople of the small town of Summer Hill think highly of themselves and look down on the people that live by the lake. For most of her life, Terri Rayburn, has been subjected to a bad reputation that she did not deserve. Her hopes to travel the world, were squashed when her father needed her help to run the resort at the lake after his business partner's death. Her life has become a jack of all trades and she has no life of her own, until Nate Taggert ends up staying in her aunt's house with her, through the machinations of his uncle. Despite his engagement to the Stacy, daughter of the town's mayor, he and Terri quickly become so in sync with each other that most people at the lake think they are a couple. The more time he spends with Terri, he starts to question his relationship with Stacy, but Terri is terrified of more scandal. Having worked for the CIA, Nate puts his skills to work, to find out what happened to Terri's mother, and why Terri was blamed for actions, when she was the victim. The only con I had for this book, and it may be due to the fact that I read an ARC, was that the story just abruptly ended. I read an ARC from This is my unbiased and voluntary review.

Through no fault of her own Terri has lived with a certain reputation most of her life. She knows there isn't much she can do about the status quo especially when you live in a small town so she just ignored it and moved forward in her life. Terri works on a lake and is basically handyman and go to person for any problems that come up on a day to day basis. She moved back home to help her father and has been at it ever since. When she arrives home from a trip to find a man living in her home she knows her father must behind this sneaky deed. Nate is In town to spend some time with his fiancee's parents, get his new business office ready, and to take a bit of a break before he opens said business. His fiancee was suppose to be joining him but took on a job out of the country for a few weeks. He hates that she isn't with him but decides to make the most of the situation he has been dealt. Nate is shocked when he finds out that the person whose home he is staying in is a young vibrant woman. The two end up coming to an agreement about the living situation and soon enter into a friendship. Terri know Nate is engaged but can't help the feelings that are stirring inside her. Mate knows that nothing can happen with Terri but enjoys her company and looks at her in a way that he probably shouldn't. Follow along as these two skirt around feelings, form a bond, and helps you believe that love can find a way. This was the first book I have read from this author and I loved it, I can't wait to pick up more of her books and look forward to seeing what she delivers in the future!

3.5/5 stars Met Her Match was a good romance story with a bit of drama! It definitely put me in a summer mood with it's lakeside town, summer night parties and slow burn romance. Synopsis Terri comes home to the lake resort, that she runs with her dad, after completing an errand to find a very sexy Nate will be living with her for the next few weeks. Terri feels that someone, most likely her dad, is playing matchmaker and trying to set her up with Nate. Unfortunately, Nate's engaged to marry the mayor's daughter who has the rest of his life planned out for him. After getting to know Terri, Nate can't understand why there's tension between the town and lake people, but he believes Terri's caught in the middle of it. Pacing & Points of View The overall pacing was average. With everything going in within the story, it didn't make for a fast read. Terri and Nate were the main points of view for the story and it was nice to see what was going on in each other's heads as the romance progressed. Characters Terri and Nate's romance was definitely a slow burn with him being engaged and both of them complete strangers at first. I'm always drawn into stories when the characters are forced to live together for a time! I loved Terri's independent nature and how Nate threw himself into whatever he was doing. The town versus lake people drama was interesting as well and kept you wondering what happened in the past to cause the rift. Overall I liked this dramatic romance with summer feels and a bit of mystery. Perfect for fans that like their romance on the lighter side with more of a story and a really good backstory that reveals itself at the end. *Thank you to NeGalley, HarperCollins and Harlequin for allowing me the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.

What a tangled web and Terri's caught in the middle 4.5stars This story morphed from romance to suspense and kept me engaged beginning to end. Terri, the young woman at the heart of the action, has had troubles and heaps of responsibility throughout her life in small-town Virginia where a reputation once ruined is hard to repair. When Nate shows up, his presence is a mixed blessing. He helps lighten her work burdens, but their flirtation and closeness also goads the town gossips into fresh critiques of Terri's character. Terri's a very sympathetic heroine. I particularly liked the manner in which author Jude Deveraux released bits of information throughout the book to reveal the events that made Terri and her mother Leslie such pariahs in the town. The plot, writing and character development were strong; I just thought the ending seemed slightly clipped and rushed compared to the rest of the story. Thanks to the publishers and NetGalley for providing an advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.

Met Her Match is a win for the underdogs. Terri Rayborn is a girl from the wrong side of town, technically Lake Kissel. She has spent her whole life living down her mother's reputation of running off with a man. Every bad situation Terri fell victim to, she always took the blame for. She spends her days running her father's business at he the Lake seeing to the renters and any emergency that pops up until she comes home to find a hot man that seems to be sent just for her. Nate Taggert is in town to marry the mayor's daughter and start a new business. A man of adventure and action, Nate and Terri fall into a routine like an old married couple. A man torn between two women and who he really is, Nate wins over hearts and Terri feels like your new best friend. The love story between the two is a long, complicated road that ends in an interesting mystery that needs solved to allow for a very satisfying HEA. Laced with humor and entertaining, the book is a fast paced, heart tugging read that leaves you with a smile. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from Netgalley.

A slow-burn romance with that Jude Deveraux flair that keeps us reading every title. Plenty of sizzle and lots of good story.

Another great addition to her Taggert series! This was a fast story, it began with a little romance and ended with a mystery. I thought it was well written and kept my interest. I enjoyed the story! Thanks to Netgalley for the early copy

Best-selling author, Jude Deveraux, has held my attention for years. Offhand, I can’t think of any of her titles that I haven’t enjoyed. Met Her Match, Deveraux’s newest release, was just as enjoyable as her other works. Perfect summer escape, indeed. The balance between the “classes”, the mystery, the camaraderie, the romance – they were all sweetly done in that read-in-a-hammock type of way. (If you’re a devotee of romance novels, you’ll totally get what I mean!) The chemistry between the love interests, the descriptions of the resort town, and all the twists of gossip – reliable or otherwise – made for a relatable read and made you feel like you were sitting lakeside with the rest of the crew. It might not be summer anymore, but this one would be a great stocking stuffer for those who like sweet, sizzling, contemporary romance with a twist of mystery. Great to read over a weekend or sitting in the school carpool lane! Released a few days ago, it should be available on all major booksellers shelves now. My thanks to the publisher for a chance to read an advanced reader’s copy courtesy of NetGalley. All opinions are my own.

Met Her Match by Jude Deveraux is the 2nd book in her Summer Hill series. Terri Rayburn, our heroine, has lived all her life in the small town of Summer Hill, Virginia, and has learned to put up with the terrible false gossip about her reputation during her younger years. Terri’s mother left town suddenly when she was a young girl, with the townsfolk’s calling her mother a tramp, and unfortunately the sins of the mother was passed over to Terri. She erroneously was blamed for hurting some high school boys, even if it was self defense against their attack, and when she dumped her popular boyfriend, the town blamed her. A grown-up Terri doesn’t let it bother her, as she is respected for the work, she does to run the Lake Kissel summer resort. When Terri gets back from a vacation, she finds a man living in her house. Nate Taggert, our hero, is planning to move to Summer Hill with his fiancée, but for now his uncle told him to stay at the house on the lake, which has multiple rooms; after a few days, he meets Terri. After a rough start, a friendship begins between Terri and Nate, with both of them helping each other fix all the things happening around the resort, as well as the cabins and land surrounding the lake. Terri begins to feel an attraction to the handsome hunky Nate, but knows he is off limits, especially with his fiancée being the Mayor’s daughter. Nate is very comfortable around Terri, and also begins to feel the attraction to her, but is determined to stay with his fiancée and not let the lust he feels get in the way. In no time, I loved Terri and Nate together and rooted hard for them, knowing that they were had great chemistry, and so perfect for each other. What follows is a wonderful slow built romance between a couple we loved, and rooted hard for them to recognize that they were destined to be together. Near the last quarter of the book, a mystery about Terri’s mother takes center stage, and the truth will be revealed. Gossip can be very hurtful, especially for the innocent and this story leads to that when people realize that what they thought they knew was not what really happened, and Terri was maligned for no reason. Met Her Match was very well written by Jude Deveraux, and the story line was very well done, with a sweet fun romance and a great couple. I suggest you read Met Her Match.

I am a first-time reader of Jude Deveraux- and after finishing 'Met Her Match,' I realize I have been missing out! I could not get enough of this small town with its big secrets, gossip, dark, murderous mysteries, and partying vibe! A rollercoaster of highs, lows and plenty of frustrations ( anger and sexual ) the hidden gems of humor, zings of attraction between main characters Terri and Nate, those "helpful shoves " from family, friends and nosey neighbors. Combined with emotionally broken pieces being put back together- made for beautifully heart squeeze of a romance that, Phew! I read it all in one sitting happily! I look forward to digging into more work by this author very soon!

In Met Her Match by Jude Deveraux, we visit the small town of Summer Hill, VA. Terrie Rayburn has been treated as an outcast because of actions by mother. While spending her days taking care of the summer resort on Lake Kissel, she keeps busy so she can avoid the small town gossip. When she returns home she finds Nate Taggert, a handsome stranger, living in her house. Nate came to Summer Hill to spend time with his fiancé, but she left for Italy for a few weeks. Terrie thought she had finally met her match only to learn Nate is engaged to the mayor's daughter and strictly off-limits. Nate starts to throw himself into life at the lake and he and Terrie become fast friends. As Nate starts to hear the rumors about Terri, he’s determined to discover the source of the gossip. Terri doesn’t want to revisit her painful past, but Nate will stop at nothing to uncover the truth; even if the truth might be more than either of them can handle. Ms. Deveraux wrote a truly interesting tale, part slow burn romance tied in with a mystery that is not to be missed. Met Her Match is book two in the Summer Hill series, although it is a stand alone story. I loved the development of the characters as well as the banter between Terri and Nate and how perfect they were for each other. I just wished he wasn't engaged. Technically he didn't cheat on his fiancé but the situation he put himself in made me a bit uncomfortable. I definitely recommend Met Her Match to other readers. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley to read in exchange for a fair review. Met Her Match by Jude Devereaux is the story that explores life in a small town, the divide between those that live in town and those that live out at the lake and how gossip carries on through generations. Terri Rayburn lives out at the lake, her family looks after the properties that border the lake and rent out cabins to tourists and annual visitors. Terri’s mother disappeared when she was a small child and the people in town look down their noses at her because they’re sure she’s flighty just like her mama. She comes home from a couple of days away to find that her family has moved Nate Taggert into her house as he’s engaged to the mayor’s daughter Stacy and needed a place to stay until his fiancee gets back from a trip to Italy. With nothing to do while he waits for Stacy to return he helps Terri out with the never ending list of things to be done around the lake and a firm friendship is formed. Nate being the kind of guy who likes to fix things determines to solve the mysteries surrounding Terri’s moms disappearance to put to rest the gossip and rumours so that Terri can live her own life and along the way figures out who it is he wants to be. I enjoyed this story very much and hope that the author will write some more stories about Summer Hill, Virginia. Medium Steam. Met Her Match (Summer Hill #2) is full of small-town gossip, devilishly crafted characters, lots of secrets, and romance. There is mystery, and twists that round this book out and keeps the reader wondering what is going on in the seeming near-perfect fictional town of Summer Hill. I say near-perfect because there is lots of angst and tension between the three groups of people in the town, the wealthy townspeople, the summer lake people and the working-class people who run the resort of Kissel Lake. Met Her Match is my first book by Jude Deveraux, and I am looking forward to reading more from this author. I did not have the pleasure to read the first book in this series, but I do plan to go back and fix that little misstep. I don't feel that you have to read the first book as the author did an excellent job in explaining the history of Summer Hill. Jude Deveraux's writing style is spot-on; she made me feel as if I was part of this small town, and I could be best friends with the main character, Terri Rayburn. Terri has had to deal with the cruel gossip about her missing mother her whole life. This gossip has in turn been put upon her. In spite of this, Terri has become a strong, self-reliant woman who held fast to her beliefs and morals. Terri returns from a short business trip to find the very handsome Nate Taggert living in her home. Together they figure out that Nate's uncle Kit was the one that arranged for Nate to live in Terri's house. Nate is the total package. He is a good looking, strong, intelligent man, with principles. After some very heated back and forth banter between the two Terri decides to let Nate stay in her house. There is an immediate attraction, but Nate being the great guy that he is tells Terri he is engaged. His fiancé happens to have gone to high school with Terri. But she is just not just any girl; she is the perfect, sweet, beautiful Stacy Hartman, who happens to be in Italy for two weeks. Over two weeks, Terri and Nate fall into an easy friendship that is full of sexual tension. Ahh, but don't be fooled, this book is so much more than a simple taboo romance. There are decades-old secrets, and twists and turns I didn't see coming. The supporting cast of "characters" were excellent, and I want to know more about them. The balance of tone is perfect in the book. At times the book had me smiling and laughing, and other times there was some intense darkness that had me wanting to give Terri a big mom hug. I look forward to catching up with the first book in this series, The Girl from Summer Hill, and looking forward to reading future books in the series. #MetHerMatch #NetGalley #Romance #Smalltown *** I kindly received this galley by way of NetGalley/publisher/author.
