If you have read one then you shuld be hooked and looking for the next one. If you have not picked one up yet, what are you waiting for? I enjoy the Alaxander Kent books and C.S. Foster but these are so much better! WWALD?

Far too short and not complete. The reader is left hanging and too much text is given over to retelling the incidents of prior books. The author is capable of a better treatment.

... than the last one, from a "whacking good yarn" standpoint. Lewrie continues to develop as a character; I think a lot of us who are fans mourn his youthfulness, and as he settles into middle age (like a lot of us) he gets far better at what he does, but less interesting. The story is good, there's a lot of interesting action and some comeuppance to some older foils of Lewrie's, but as a person you begin to feel a little sorry for Lewrie. One of the great things about Lambdin's series is that he does a great job, for those of us familiar with the Napoleonic Wars, of finding interesting tidbits, battles, intrigues and scenarios that were not "centre stage" in the histories of the wars. I'd recommend it and am looking forward to Lewrie's mid-life crisis.
