Finally a voice that makes sense for anyone who struggles with their weight, and feels close to despair about losing and keeping weight off. The reasoning about carbs causing a a perfect storm of brain chemicals that create an addictive response to them, rings true for me because this is exactly what happens in my experience. I cut back on the carbs, lose the weight and then have a little bit of bread here, a nice steaming bowl of rice there, then I hit a saturation point, and BOOM. I am craving the carbs. and the struggle starts again. I have am not an addictive type - with ciggs., drugs (back in the day a few collegiate times), alcohol. Carbs just weaken me at the knees. Thus, it has been very helpful to learn that for some people, carbs function like a drug. This helps me to put my food choices in perspective, I am very thankful that this author was able to write this book.
