To hell and back . . .

Though he has vampire, demon, and Viking blood rushing through his veins, Ivar Kjeidsen’s soul-crushing trip to hell broke him in ways he can barely fathom.  One vow keeps the deadly immortal standing: To rescue the vampire brother who had sacrificed freedom for him.  To do that, Ivar needs the help of a brilliant physicist with wary brown eyes, fierce brilliance, and skin that's way too soft.

Dr. Promise Williams understands the underpinnings of the universe but has never figured out the human beings inhabiting it.   Her function is to think—and not feel—until she’s touched by a vampire who’s nowhere near human. The primal hunger in his eyes awakens feelings in her that defy calculation. As she shows him the way to step between worlds, he brands her with a pleasure that could last more than a lifetime . . .

Alpha’s Promise by Rebecca Zanetti Dark Protectors #10 What does it say about me that I find myself more invested in fictional paranormal characters and the series they populate than in fictional human characters that have what some might believe “more real” plots in the books they exist in? I mean...I stopped reading another book that didn’t “click” with me at all then picked up this book and could not put it down! I get the protectors and the women they fall for and can’t wait to read the next book when it comes out...that’s me...eagerly awaiting Dark Protectors book eleven...oh yeah! In this book Ivar has been back for three months and has been mending after finally getting out of an existence that was one torturous situation after another. He was helping to balance a situation that so far has kept evil Kurjan Ulric captive in a bubble world. He had to leave Quade, another protector, behind and vowed he would return to save him or take his place. To make this happen he needs a physicist that will be able to come up with a mathematical solution that will allow him to save Quade but keep Ulric in prison. When he meets up with Promise, a physicist, he realizes he needs to protect her as a few other physicists have already met an untimely painful end. Getting her on board is not easy but eventually does happen. This story had me from t he very beginning. The meet-cute was...intriguing. I absolutely adored Promise’s logical take on life and her ability to be forthright in stating what she was thinking, desired and was willing to do. Ivar was definitely not human but on board with and understood just what Promise was talking about most of the time. Their relationship was HOT and interesting and perfect in so many ways. In the mix were other characters that are keeping the long-range plot in motion. The Kurjans and Cysts and their evilness are shown again, Quade was visited, Haven Daly is brought in and my gut feeling is that she will be instrumental in getting Quade out of his unbearable situation, the keys are mentioned, the role of the lock (still a child) and her friends was again mentioned and the question of how the four will eventually be part of the is just a finely tuned wonderful epic journey of a series that has this one book in it that made me very happy from beginning to end. That said...when is book eleven due? Thank you to NetGalley and Kengington Lyrical Books for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

Promises are very important to Ivar Kjeidsen and he made one to his brother in arms Quade, who is trapped in another demension (kind of like hell). But that was before Dr. Promise “Missy” Williams came into the picture. She is a brilliant mathematician who the dark protectors need to figure out how to get Quade out and keep the bad guy Ulric trapped. Of course, there are people/Kurjans that want Ulric free. Ivar and Promise have a rocky beginning, but finally figure things out…but will they be in time to save Quade? And who exactly is Haven Daly and how does she fit into the picture? To find out the answer to that question we will have to wait for another book in the series! This is a good book with interesting characters. I recommend it. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to give a honest review of this book.

NEVER HESITATE PICKING UP A ZANETTI! They are all great paranormal romance, action novels. Quick reads full of in depth characters; some able to travel through dreams and other dimensions. Dr. Promise Williams reminds me of Sheldon on the Big Bang Theory with her quantum physics expertise and focus on solving the problems of the universe. The Seven Immortal Vampire Demon all have unique powers that they hope will save the world. One of the seven is the Viking who is set on saving his brother Quade is trapped in a dimension of pain and suffering. Hope is that Promise can help him achieve his vow to set Quade free. Action and Romance make this a must read. "A copy of this was provided by Kensington books via NetGalley with no requirements for a review. Comments here are my honest opinion."

var Kjeidsen survived time in a hellish dimension and was rescued by Quade, one of his brothers of the hybrid group known as the Seven. Now this vampire demon Viking has one goal in mind: to release the brother who sacrificed so much for him. Ivar thinks one of the world smartest physicists, Promise Williams, can help achieve that goal no matter the personal cost to her. Promise has spent her whole life from the time she was very young immersed in science. She has no comprehension of anything other than logic, crazy high level math, and her all-consuming work. Promise gets drawn into Ivar’s paranormal world at hyper-speed going from only to believing in pure to science to realizing there is so much more to the universe than she had ever imagined. Ivar has to deal not only with his Kurjan enemies who also want Promise for her skills, but his growing attraction to a woman he has no plans to stay with as he intends to take the Quade’s place. Promise has a huge learning curve to get up to speed with this new to her world and help Ivar figure his goal if it is at all possible. Not surprisingly, this story has quite a bit of complex science considering what it is theoretical physicists study. Since this is book #10 in the Dark Protectors series, while it may not be necessary to have read all the books, the story makes much more sense for readers who have read at least some of the prior books. Some storylines are a continuation such as that of Hope who is an important figure for the main characters. Fans of Ms. Zanetti’s series will enjoy this latest addition.

I love the Dark Protectors series, and Alpha’s Promise did not let me down. Ivar is a hybrid vampire/demon with Viking blood. He has always been the planner. In the last book he was thrown into a hell dimension and has returned broken in body and spirit. His goal is to return to the hell world to rescue his vampire brother who has been in that hell world for a long time. Dr. Promise Williams is a brilliant physicist and mathematician. Her studies may be the thing needed to get back to that hell dimension and figure out how to solve the problems of the bubble worlds created thousands of years ago that now seem to be collapsing. Promise was raised to focus totally on science, so when she is thrown into the world of the Realm, with demons, vampires, and fae, her world is turned upside down. Watching Ivar and Promise start to move out of their comfort zones and into a relationship was fun; I’m looking forward to more of these two. Rebecca Zanetti has amazingly intelligent, independent women that she pairs with these large alpha males.

Alpha’s Promise was everything that I love about this series. Ivar, while broody and bossy, also held deep emotion and passion. Promise was smart and a little weird, but I loved it. Together they were perfect. I can’t wait for the next book.

Even with vampire, demon and Viking blood rushing through his veins, Ivar Kjeidsen’s soul crushing trip to hell broke him in ways he can barely fathom. Only the vow to rescue the vampire brother who sacrificed freedom for him keeps the deadly immortal standing, but in order to achieve that vow, he needs the help of the brilliant Dr. Promise Williams who understands the underpinnings of the universe but has never figured out the human beings inhabiting it. This ‘Dark Protector’ romance is a stimulating, emotional, rocking and explosive read! Ivar and Promise are two wonderfully strong characters that stand out and obviously belong together and the romance between is sweet and full of feeling that warms readers’ hearts even as it confuses Promise’s. This hero and heroine is so very different but it is truly remarkable how much Ivar understands her and really and truly tries to make her comfortable with dominating alpha ways and he is oh so smexy! The plot is fast paced and takes readers on truly fantastical and exhilarating journey through an emotionally gripping, thrillingly dangerous journey to rescue a friend. The rescue itself poses lots of danger for the rescuer but it also poses danger for all worlds which keeps the readers holding their breath in anticipation and excitement throughout this riveting and thrilling read, which might become a problem since readers can’t put the book down once they start reading it.

Physicists are being killed, torn to pieces. Only few know why. The seven, a brotherhood of protectors of the world's are in dire need of one. They need to save one of the brothers without destroying the world. When Promise is the victim of an attempted kidnapping, it was brushed off as a carjacking. Ivar needs Promise to help reduce his brother. She is not aware of what is happening. There is a great chemistry between them. Will Promise find the solution? I can't wait took the next book. Excited to see what happens. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for a honest review.

I’ve not really read a vampire book before besides Dracula. I know of the lore and of course the Twilight inconsistencies with it, but that’s about it. Alpha’s Promise brings in a whole lot of other things to do with vampires, and while I cannot say it follows traditional lore, it was interesting. Promise is a physicist and Ivar a vampire-demon hybrid who needs her intelligence to go through time and dimensions to being his friend back. I don’t know how accurate the science was but it was interesting. I felt the romance was rushed and that both Promise and Ivar were awkward and uncomfortable within the relationship. I also felt like Ivar’s personality was a bit inconsistent. I enjoyed the side characters (many of whom have already had stories) and they were good at the comic relief. I don’t know that I liked the way the vampires were portrayed, sometimes it seemed like an afterthought, but it worked well when dealing with the conflict between them and the Kurjans.

Fall in love with the latest Dark Protector story from Rebecca Zanetti, Alpha's Promise! Its an intensely satisfying, exhilarating, twisty read with SCORCHING HOT romance, an epic plot that is constantly loaded with surprises and twists you don't expect along with a hero who is wildly intense and 100% alpha! And just to reassure you, the heroine is no slouch either. She is super SUPER smart and brilliant and kind and readers will no doubt love her too. I fell head over heels for this newest book by Miss Zanetti. I love the dark wildness that these immortals have. They are irresistible and the way these worlds are changing within the story is incredible and so bold and just made my heart pound. Promise and Ivar are so unique together but hold just as much promise and passion as I have come to expect from this series and vampires. I loved how this book was written. It was evenly paced and exciting as well as sexy as sin and electrifying. I am crazy excited already for the next one and urge readers, if they haven't caught up on this series, do so NOW before the next one releases because it is very worth it I assure you. Alpha's Promise gets a EXHILARATING FIVE INTENSE STARS!

4.25 stars--ALPHA’S PROMISE is the tenth instalment in Rebecca Zanetti’s DARK PROTECTORS paranormal/fantasy romance series. This is hybrid demon/vampire Ivar Kjeidsen, and theoretical physicist Dr. Promise Williams’ story line. ALPHA’S PROMISE can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion, especially this particular arc of the series focusing on the group known as the Seven. Told from several third person perspectives including Promise and Ivar, following several intersecting paths, ALPHA’S PROMISE follows the building relationship between hybrid demon/vampire Ivar Kjeidsen, and theoretical physicist Dr. Promise Williams. Someone, or more specifically, the Kurjans have been targeting enhanced female physicists, and Dr. Promise Williams is next on their list. In an effort to protect the enhanced human female, Ivan Kjeidsen volunteers to act as guardian but goes about his job all wrong. Hoping to discover the truth behind their ability to teleport, the Seven bring Promise Williams into their fold, in an effort to use her knowledge and her mind. As the Kurjans continue to target enhanced female physicists, Promise begins to unravel the secret behind temporal dimensions, worlds and the ability to teleport. What ensues is the building romance and relationship between Ivar and Promise, and the potential fall-out as Promise and Logan’s mate Mercy find themselves, once again, taken hostage by the Kurjan vampires Promise Williams doesn’t do relationships; math is her lover but meeting Ivar Kjeidsen stirs something deep within our story line heroine. Promise’s enhanced abilities allows her to detect what others cannot, an ability that makes her a target in the war between the demons and vampires. Ivar Kjeidsen’s goal is to return to the h*ll world in order to rescue his brother and friend but Quade doesn’t want rescuing, in fact, he wants the Seven to leave him alone. But Quade has a secret, that the Seven has discovered, and in this Quade is desperate for the Seven to cease and desist. Meanwhile, Hope Kayrs-Kyllwood continues to dream walk with the young Kurjan male Drake, dream walking that pushes Hope to make plans for a meet and greet in real life. But things don’t go according to plan when Hope’s whereabouts and plans are discovered, with the potential of leading the Demons to war. ALPHA’S PROMISE is a story of heart break, secrets, betrayal, vengeance. The premise is detailed, complex and entertaining; the romance is fated and seductive; the characters are sassy, colorful, energetic, and bold. ALPHA’S PROMISE is a wonderfully intricate and elaborate addition to Zanetti’s world of the Dark Protectors.

4.5stars In Alphas promise, another of seven finds love. In this book, Viking Ivar finds love in dr.Promise. I liked this interesting unique love story. All the scientific mumbo-jumbo that is in this book got me thinking that the author had to make a mini degree from the subject. She had succeeded to write an amazing story with amazing character both Promise and Ivar are interesting and likable. It is great to see how Promises mind works and how she realized that love is real between her and Ivar and it’s not just chemistry and biology between them. I loved that the story stays unpredictable and to see how it develops. SO I cannot wait too read another book from the series. I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

Yet another fantastically written book by Rebecca Zanetti! I truly don't know how she is able to get her readers more excited for each book. Alpha's Promise was a phenomenal book and I'm dying to read the next book in the series. Even though I want to know what happens next I really don't want the series to ever end!! This series just keeps getting better and better with each book and I love how every book connects yet is different and you can really hear the different character's voices throughout each book. I've read series where the characters start sounding the same in my head and I can't tell them apart and this is definitely NOT the case with this author's writing. This book is the story of Promise and Ivar. At first glance the two definitely don't appear to be the 'typical' couple, however, they make the perfect match (in my opinion anyway). Promise is a mathematical genius that thinks logically and has troubles with personal relationships. Ivar basically lost his humanity while he was stuck in many hell dimensions and is struggling to connect with people. I felt that the two of them completely compliment each other and I really enjoyed 'watching' their relationship develop. I liked how Promise kept approaching everything in their relationship 'logically' and Ivar basically broke those barriers down and they both ended embracing the emotional connection they developed. I LOVED Alpha's Promise and think it is a great book that added important information to the series while developing a solid relationship between Ivar and Promise. There were so many parts to this book that makes the reader fall in love all over with the series!! The Dark Protectors series is a great series and I am very excited to read the next book in the series. I love all of the characters (it's tough to even pick a 'favorite' with all of the different relationships in the series). I think Rebecca Zanetti is a gifted writer and I am thoroughly enjoying this journey. I can't wait to see what will come next!

I couldn't put this book down. Rebecca Zanetti has a loyal devoted reader with me. I found this series and haven't been able to stop reading them. I can't wait for the next installment! This is Ivar and Promise's story. Promise is a mathematical genius that may be able to help get Quade who has long been stuck in another demention back home. Ivar is the vampire/demon who has vowed to get him. Even though there is lots of math talk this barely able to add reader was able to follow along and stay interested... lol. Does Quade get back home?? Read the book and find out! If you like a fast paced page turning story with some very hot romance you won't be able to put it down either!! When is the next installment coming!!??? Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for granting me this read.... and special thanks to Rebecca Zanetti for taking me on this journey.....

It was easy to jump right into the story as this is the 10th novel in the series and the third or fourth in this most recent rehabilitation of the story. I wish I could say it was as easy to like these characters but I found it really hard! Ivar is recovering from being lost jumping from dimension to dimension and surviving some horrible physical injuries as well as being mentally wiped out. His character although alpha, seemed more boorish and I just didn’t find the same heart in his character that I did in the heroes of the earlier novels. Promise, also, had some serious warmth issues. For two such cool customers I found it hard to find emotion in their slam bam thank you ma’am sex life, and even less so in their rather stilted dialog. I have been a fan of Rebecca Zanetti’s and love the earlier Dark Protectors novels, but once she returned to this series after venturing into other novels, she seems to be having trouble finding that magical ingredient again. I did enjoy her Realm Enforcer’s series, which inhabits this same world, but the last couple of books have been so-so and I’ll admit to disappointment. I might think twice before picking up another one of these novels for fear of finding them lacking again. ❤️❤️❣️ I received a copy of this ARC through NetGalley for my honest review and it was honest.

Three and a half stars, I knocked half a star off because I'm bored of heroes with Dom tendencies. This is perfect (see above) Rebecca Zanetti paranormal escapism. Ivar Kjeidsen the hybrid vampire/demon Viking was trapped in a hell dimension/bubble for eons and has finally been released, but his mission is to get back and rescue Quade, his fellow member of the Seven, who is still trapped. Dr Promise Williams is a brilliant physicist with poor people skills. At the funeral of a colleague who was ripped apart by savage animals she is almost kidnapped by Ivar until her quick thinking lets her get away, but she meets him again when applying for a monumental grant and learns that Ivar is trying to protect her from whoever/whatever is murdering physicists. The Seven want Promise to theorise about how to rescue Quade, but their sworn enemies, the Kurjan are trying to capture Promise. Do you like stories with vampires, demons, fae, hybrids, immortals, larger than life characters and super powers? If so I think you'll love this. There's a whole host of characters, most of whom I can't keep straight, overreaching arcs, sub-plots, set ups for future novels, true love, mating, branding, travel to different dimensions (the immortals wish they'd never given humans that word), cute moppets who may just save the universe, double-crossing exes, geniuses and a whole boat load of alpha male testosterone. Rebecca Zanetti never takes herself too seriously and this is a sexy rip-roaring read from start to finish. I received a free copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in return for an honest review.

This is book 10 in the Dark Protector's series and you absolutely have to read the previous books (or at least the last 2 for sure) in order to understand the larger story ARC that is going on. This one is about Ivar Kjeidsen and Promise Williams. Ivar is trying to keep his vow to go and rescue his brother after he saved him from the hell realm he was stuck in. In order to do that he needs the help of a physicist. Promise is one of the top physicist's but Ivar and the Seven are not the only people looking to figure out how to get to the prison of the hell realm's. Now it's a race to not only keep her safe but to get to his brother before it's too late. I absolutely loved this one! Promise is one of those people where numbers and science make more sense to her than people and relationships. She doesn't always understand societal norms or how to even hold conversations with people. But I loved that about her! It makes her completely unique and different enough that you can't help but love her. Ivar has literally been through hell and is just trying to work his way back to not only sanity but what he believes is the right thing to do. Even at the expense of what could possibly be his one chance at happiness. And I absolutely loved that about him! I love that he isn't this perfect male with everything in his life completely together. And they just mesh together in a way that I loved. I couldn't put it down once I started it! And let me just say that I can't wait for the next one, after certain things happen I am not completely curious about a couple of characters stories!

5 Stars Review by Leah Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog Alpha’s Promise by Rebecca Zanetti, starring Ivar the Viking and Promise, brings out my inner math and science geek. I wanted to sit by her and watch her work. The connection between these two is more than just sexual angst or suspense. It adds intellectual angst. You can see the wheels turning when they put their heads together. I also feel like Ivar is a closet nerd, haha! At some points in the book, it seemed like Ivar was waiting for Promise to figure out the problem on her own even though he already knew the answer. Then there is Promise’s excitement when it comes to solving the next problem. I was getting just as excited for her. The support Ivar gives when Promise goes into one of her zones while working on the next equation is heartwarming. You would think this would be a rough and tumble, me Tarzan you Jane, throughout the book because let's face it, Ivar is a Viking turned Vampire. Come on, if that does not spell out Alpha, I do not know what would. There are also some freaking sexy Alpha moments but it also shows a side of Ivar that he does not share with many. That is what really hooked me. I love the depth of the characters Rebecca builds in her stories. There are so many layers and dimensions. If you read the book you will understand. The Dark Protector series by Rebecca Zanetti is one of my favorite and I really enjoyed the little twist in this one with the heroine. Not saying all the other heroines are bad just that Promise is the introverted nerd in high school everyone passed by. Which I can relate a little too, HA! Promise allowed Alpha’s Promise to be its own story but still a continuation of the series.
