Overview

This must-have classic about a baby bird in search of his mother is the perfect for every day!

A baby bird goes in search of his mother in this hilarious Beginner Book edited by Dr. Seuss. When a mother bird's egg starts to jump, she hurries off to make sure she has something for her little one to eat. But as soon as she's gone, out pops the baby bird. He immediately sets off to find his mother, but not knowing what she looks like makes it a challenge. The little hatchling is determined to find his mother, even after meeting a kitten, a hen, a dog, and a Snort. The timeless message of the bond between mother and child make P. D. Eastman's Are You My Mother? a must for baby showers, beginning readers, and Mother's Day.

Originally created by Dr. Seuss, Beginner Books encourage children to read all by themselves, with simple words and illustrationsthat give clues to their meaning.

I have already purchased all the Dr. Seuss books FROM BN, and it is ridiculous to expect a parent to spend ten bucks for the electronic version of a small book for children.

No thank you. Not for 10 dollars. Even if it is one of my favorites.

I gave my grand daughter this book for her seventh birthday. Why? Her father got a divorce when she was two years old. Her mother left my grand daughter "to find herself". I became the temporary "mother." Recently, when I read a book of Dr. Seuss to her class and asked the question, "What is your favorite Dr. Seussbook", every student was ready to give their favorite Dr. Seuss title. But my grand daughter spoke up and said, "My favorite book is "Are You My Mother?". Her answer touched me deeply in that moment. It struck me that my grand daughter was now ready to search deeper to find that missing piece of her life. I am so grateful that this book will help her on her search. It has few words, but with the simple illustrations, can direct the reader to its final exciing conclusion.

I love this book, but unfortuantely the read to me option is very hard to listen to. Very monotone voice, my kids got bored very quickly and payed a lot more attention when I read the book. Not work 9.99 as a nookbook!

A sweet story for a young child. When a bird is born and doesn't see his mother he goes looking for her. He sees all kinds of animals and objects and is finally united with his mother, back at the nest where she left him.

I think this book is good for chidren ages 3-5. It is a nice book about a baby bird trying to find his mother. However, I do not like the dull pictures and the amount of text. If the pictures were a little brighter then this book would get a higher rating. As for the text, many board books are short and simple, but this book seems to be a little more complex with longer sentences; therefore, the attention of the child can easily be lost by the middle of the book (until the crane comes along with its bright red colors).

A baby bird, fallen from his nest, sets out to find his mother.

Join the search for the little bird's mother. The little bird has looked high and low but can't seem to find her then help from an unlikely source, a Snort (a frontloader), puts him back in his nest. Sweet, mysterious, engaging and fun. A great read for young, reluctant, or any reader. Grades preK-2 but could teach writing skills to older students too.

While its momma is gone the oh so cute little bird looks for his mother high and low, asking various animals are they his mother. The little bird walks by his mother and doesn't recognizes her because he is just out the nest and has not seen her. While the mother bird is gone, the baby bird comes out of its shell. The first thing he says is, "Where is my mother?" He starts looking for her but doesn¿t see her in the nest. As the day follows we as the reader follow the birds even as he ask if an evacuate is his mother! Eventually the baby bird finds his mother and we as the reader are so happy for the baby bird. This is a book perfect for beginner readers

Are You My Mother? follows a confused baby bird who's been denied the experience of imprinting as he asks cows, planes, and steam shovels the Big Question. In the end he is happily reunited with his maternal parent in a glorious moment of recognition.

Probably my second favourite childhood book and now a favourite of my children. Simple, but emotional story of the importance of the role of the "mother".

When a momma bird leaves her eggs in search of food, well, they hatch! Curiously, one of the hatchlings heads off to search for his mother meeting all kinds of characters (and not so!) along the way. A must read aloud book for levels infants to Grade 1.
