From USA Today Bestselling Author Aileen Erin

Seventeen-year-old Tessa McCaide has come a long way since her abrupt entrance into the world of werewolves, but she still has just as far to go before she’s comfortable with turning full wolf. In the meantime, she’s avoiding the topic of shifting to four legs any way she can. Thankfully her mate, Dastien Laurent, is quite the distraction.

When she finds her best friend, Meredith, getting sick in the bathroom, Tessa knows something’s majorly wrong. Meredith was cursed years ago, and the dark magic kept her wolf dormant—only now the wolf is awake, and that same spell is killing her.

Tessa has no intention of sitting around while Meredith wastes away. Even if it means playing with magic she doesn’t understand, she’ll do anything to save Meredith’s life. Including bargaining with the local coven of witches and its crazed leader, whose only goal is getting Tessa to join the witchy ranks.

Can Tessa save her friend without losing herself?

This is the second book in the Alpha Girl series, and it a pretty little sequel to Becoming Alpha. I liked Tessa, Dastien and Meridith, so I was definitely looking forward to seeing more of them. This time around, we get to see some real growth from Tessa, and I liked how Tessa learned more about where she came from, her heritage and what it all meant for her. Tess has this side to her that is selfless, and will do anything for those she loves. She does some pretty cray things too when Meridith goes missing and she sets out to find her. The pacing was steady, not as much action this time, but with all the witchy/werewolf stuff happening, I flew through this before I knew it. Now, since this is a novella the romance too kinda a back seat, and was more about Tessa and trying to save Meredith. Dastien is there with Tessa through everything, and he was just as charming as always. Avoiding Alpha was a interestingly fun and quick read, and a great addition to the series.

This story remains another great novel. Although it is rather short, the plot line is still an amazing story full of suspense and action. My favorite aspect of this novel was how Tessa continued to fight for what she believed in throughout the novel, even when obstacles, mentally and physically, continued to plague her way. In addition, the author continued to develop the other characters to assist the reading in getting a better understanding of their personalities. Overall, the novel provided a great sequel to the first novel, and is a must read for the series.

The boom is only 185 pages which is expensive for $4.99, but the book has a good storyline but is short.

I got the first and second book free. I enjoyed them both and bought the third. My only complaint is that this book was a continuation of the first and the main story is not yet resolved. I like a series where each book develops new characters, instead of another installment of an ongoing story.

I really enjoyed this series and once I read the first I had to get the others. Starts off kind of slow but stick with it because it gets good. War, magic, love , friendship and drama all in one. Great summer read.
