The Dogfather is a contemporary romance series from New York Times bestselling author Roxanne St. Claire celebrating what she loves most: hot guys, great dogs, big families...and true love. And a portion of the proceeds from every book in the series will be donated to the Alaqua Animal Refuge in the author's home state of Florida! All of the "cover dogs" were rescues from Alaqua, where we photographed all the covers for this series!

Trace Bancroft has been in prison for fourteen years paying for a mistake that cost a man his life. Now released, Trace heads back to Bitter Bark with his mutt, Meatball, and runs into Daniel Kilcannon, who offers to provide some medical care for the dog. Trace knows that would mean seeing Molly Kilcannon, a girl who shared one crazy night with him before his life took a turn for the worst. But when Meatball's illness intensifies, Trace has no choice. He has to face Molly again, and pray she'll save his dog, no matter what their history.

When Trace Bancroft arrives at Waterford Farm with a critically ill dog, Molly Kilcannon's entire world is rocked to the core. Firmly believing Trace died in a bar fight years ago, Molly never told anyone that the bad boy of Bitter Bark was the father of Prudence Kilcannon, her very good thirteen-year-old daughter. But Molly has promised to tell Pru the truth about her conception, and now that truth is a living, breathing ex-con whose very existence could change everything, including a precious mother-daughter relationship.

It doesn't take long for Molly to realize there's more to this sexy man than his dark past and tattooed arms. And while the realization that he's a father is the best thing to ever happen to him, Trace doubts anything could make him worthy of Pru or her spirited veterinarian mother. As they nurse Meatball back to health and grow ever closer, Trace and Molly have to decide when and how to tell Pru the truth. But will the secret that binds their hearts be the very thing that breaks them apart?

The Dogfather Series
Daniel Kilcannon is known as "The Dogfather" for a reason. It's not just his renowned skills as a veterinarian, his tremendous love of dogs, or the fact that he has turned his homestead in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains into a world class dog training and rescue facility. Ask his six grown children who run Waterford Farm for him, and they'll tell you that their father's nickname is due to his uncanny ability to pull a few strings to get what he wants. And what he wants is for his four sons and two daughters to find the kind of life-changing love he had with his dearly departed wife, Annie. This old dog has a few new tricks...and he'll use them all to see his pack all settled into their happily ever afters!

This book made me laugh, cry and so mad that I wanted to crawl into the book so I could beat up that stupid woman and her husband. I love how Molly, Pru and Trace are a great together. I really like this book, so far it’s my favorite. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

What a great heart warming book that teaches that there is a need to look into people's souls not their actions. Couldn't put it down once I started reading it. Thank you Roxie for another great read.

I savored Bad to the Bone. Too often I read a book in one sitting and don't fully enjoy and absorb the words. This was so amazing, so warm, so redemptive and I enjoyed each carefully written word. Thank you Roxanne. This will stay with me for quite some time.

This is now my favorite book in The Dogfather series hands down! This story made it impossible to put the book down. I found myself staying up super late to read it and picking it back up super early to continue reading. The loss of sleep was worth it. Trace, Molly, Pru and even meatball stole my heart. Bad to the Bone is definitely reread worthy.

Trace was a great guy despite the bad things that kept happening to him. Molly was wonderful charactor and more forgiving than me when Trace left again. It was great how the book showed there is more to appearances and other side to story. That doesn't happen much anymore.

This is the first book of the series that I had read, yes I know I should start at the beginning but thought why not? Well before I made it half way through, I had also purchased the first 4 and started at the beginning. This is a wonderful series for anyone that loves HEA love stories and dogs, the real stars of this series! Molly and Traces's story is one of the best I have ever read. You won't be disappointed in any of these books, I highly recommend the entire series!

Bad to the Bone is a wonderful love story. Touching and full of angst, it brought me to tears. The story revolves around Molly, the daughter/vet of the Dogfather Daniel. She had a fling while in high school with a boy named Trace who disappeared 14 years ago. She was told he was dead, but suddenly he shows up with a very sick dog in his arms. It is heartbreaking to hear what happened to him for the past 14 years. Daniel and his children are running an amazing dog training program and Trace finds a place to use the skills he has developed over the years training dogs. Along with a new home and rediscovering his feelings for Molly, he finds what a home can mean, plus some extra discoveries along the way. If you want a feel good and very touching story, then this is the one for you. I love this series and I loved this book.

Oh my! Roxanne's way of pulling your heart out of your chest is amazing. The next installment to the Dogfather series was amazing. It brought you from not being able to turn the pages fast enough to not wanting it to end. The family dynamics in her books is nothing short of "Shrink Worthy". Through the entire book I was trying to figure out in my head what would ultimately happen. I was so wrong. I wan't sure how it could end the way it did. And NOW...I can't wait for the next one. Thank you Roxi!!!

A heartbreaking story that touches the soul! Roxanne St. Clair has crafted the deeply touching love story of Molly Kilcannon and Trace Bancroft in Bad to the Bone. The unconditional love and acceptance between Molly and Trace unwinds beautifully throughout the story. The strength of family is personified with Molly, Prudence and the Kilcannon famly. The title is perfect for this title in the Dogfather series. The cover art is seriously awesome.

Molly Kilcannon is a veterinarian and a single mom who puts everyone before herself and has been keeping a closely guarded secret for the past 14 years. Pru Kilcannon is a 13-year-old general in the making who sees the world in black and white, never strays from the straight and narrow, and is increasingly insistent that she be told who fathered her. Trace is a good-hearted man who has spent 14 years paying for a mistake. He now has a second chance for happiness and love but how likely is that when he's spent a lifetime thinking he isn't worthy of either? I've been reading Roxanne St. Claire's books for years and have thoroughly enjoyed the vast majority of them but, even in a sea of keepers, this one is special. Bad to the Bone has all the feels and I eagerly indulged in each one (keep the tissues handy). It's hard to remember a group of characters who have touched me as deeply as Molly, Trace, Pru, and Meatball (yes, in St. Claire's Dogfather books, the canine characters are just as important as the humans). They're so vividly and realistically drawn that by the time I was a third of the way into the book they had ceased to be characters on the page. In my mind and my heart, these were real people who had captured my attention and my heart. I was invested in them and in their journey to forgiveness, acceptance, happiness, and love. St. Claire did not give Trace and Molly an easy journey and that made this book all the better for me. My heart broke for what Trace had been through, for the love he had never known. He was a perfectly balanced blend of bad boy, protective father, and vulnerable, tender-hearted man. I've liked Molly throughout the Dogfather series but even more after reading her story. I love her honesty and determination to do the right thing, even when she's still so angry with Trace. What can I say about Pru? She almost steals the book. This was as much her journey as it was her parents' and I so enjoyed watching her relationship with both Trace and Molly evolve as well as her individual growth as a person. Many tissues were used in the reading of this book and probably will continue to be during re-reads. This is a story I'll be returning to time and again. I highly recommend Roxanne St. Claire's BAD TO THE BONE.

This is the 5th book in the series already? Wow! I've loved every single one. Every story has a main dog in it. I love the dog aspect. Meatball was hilarious in this story! This is (also) Molly's story. It's also sort of her daughter's story. Pru is a major part of this book. I would say she is an old soul. She likes to keep everything organized and running like a top. At times it's almost like she's the mom instead of Molly. That's why it's so interesting when Pru's father, Trace, whom Molly thought was dead, shows up right before Molly was finally going to tell her the truth. The truth about the high school tryst on a single night that resulted in the sassy, loveable child. The plans to tell her are shot out of the water. Trace has his own reasons for not wanting Pru to know. His less than stellar past just might destroy Pru. Could the decision to keep the truth from her backfire on them? Will the attraction that still exists between them make it impossible to keep it from her? Will Pru ever be able to accept him? Do yourself a favor and read this entire series. It is just awesome!

I loved Bad to the Bone by Roxanne St. Claire, book four in her Dogfather series, despite the emotional roller coaster emotions that tugged at my heartstrings. What is one to do when one encounters your baby’s daddy, who you thought was killed? This is the dilemma Molly encounters when Trace returns to Better Bark with his very ill dog Meatball after fourteen years in prison, and brings him to the best vet in town. Molly was on the verge of finally telling her inquisitive daughter about her father but this brings an end to those plans. The chemistry Molly and Trace shared that one night years ago is still as hot now. Now they need to decide how and when to tell Pru who her father is. Daniel Kilcannon, the Dogfather, will once again attempt to work his matchmaking skills on another of his children. I loved this story and all the emotions it displayed. I loved how Trace’s tattoos all had meaning to something in his life, especially the one for Molly. I loved how Trace was determined to become Pru’s friend first, before she learns who he is. I loved the Kilcannon family and their belief in Travis and support for Molly and Pru. I truly loved reading this book. Ms. St. Claire is a talented story teller, being able to top each of her previous releases with another don’t put down story. This amazing story gives Molly and Trace a second chance with a secret baby romance all rolled into one. It was difficult to put down Bad to the Bone making me forget the world around me. I was drawn me into this book as Ms. St. Claire put my emotions on a rollercoaster with all its twists, turns, highs, and lows. This book is a standalone but includes characters from the previous books in this series. I highly recommend this book to other readers and am looking forward to the next entry in this series. I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book.

Emotionally gripping, sweetly thrilling second chance romance that you need to keep a box of tissue on standby for. Trace and Molly have been through so much and are the sweetest, most real and down to earth couple I have read in a long time. Their daughter is so fun and full of life I just adored her. Meatball is just the best and was the heart and glue that brought them back together after 14 years apart.... Loved this highly entertaining and emotional romantic journey.

Bad to the Bone is the fourth book in Roxanne St. Claire’s Dogfather series. While I struggled with the idea of this being Molly’s book and she didn’t get to be on the cover. (I know, real-life rescue dogs and hot guys, but still Molly’s book!) I forgot all about that as I started reading. Bad to the Bone is everything I want in a book, it is funny, heartfelt, and gives you all the feels. I related to Molly when she talked about missing her mom (though I was missing my dad). Trace was so much more than he thought he was, and definitely worthy of the Dogfather’s attention. This book is everything you want in a second chance romance and more. I voluntarily reviewed and ARC of this novel.
