Overview

The book is all about the story of first Caliph of Banu Umayyah. Muawiyah hailed from a noble trading family of Mecca (Makkah) and became the first caliph after the four rightly guided caliphs. He succeeded Ali ibn Abi Talib when Hasan ibn Ali withdrew his right to become a Caliph.
The book highlights the life of Muawiyah in early days, later on, as a Companion of Holy Prophet (PBUH) after the conquest of Mecca and ultimately as caliph of Umayyad Dynasty. The incredible achievements during his life, reign as a Caliph and steps that were popular and unpopular are put into this piece of writing to guide the Muslims of today about the history of Islam after the 4 rightly guided Caliphs.
Muawiyah was a learned man and had great leadership abilities. However, a few of his decisions were not popular. One of them being the appointment of his son Yazid as his successor since it tarnished the democratic trends introduced by teachings of Islam.
Darussalam Publishers hope that this will be a guiding light towards understanding the rights and wrongs in Islamic teachings for leadership and governance. The aim is to showcase the best possible version of the history and thus, guide the world about Islam and its widespread following.
