About the Author
Ray Klerck is a well-known personal trainer and former fitness editor for Men’s Health magazine in the UK. He has also appeared as a fitness model on the cover of that publication. Today he continues as a Men’s Health fitness and nutrition advisor on a freelance basis. He writes and edits an 18-page section of the magazine titled Personal Trainer and contributes regular in-depth features on health and fitness for other popular publications such as FHM, GQ, Fighters Only, and Men’s Fitness.
After qualifying as a Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) level 4 master personal trainer and nutrition specialist with Premier Global (equivalent to NASM CPT), Klerck joined Men’s Health UK in 2001. Over the next seven years he became the most successful fitness editor in the magazine’s history, combining his expert knowledge with the latest scientific research to create award-winning exercise and nutrition programmes.
Klerck has trained clients from all backgrounds—celebrities, athletes, Men’s Health staff and readers—helping ordinary people build muscle and burn fat for remarkable before-and-after results featured in the magazine. Klerck’s influence helped Men’s Health become the UK’s best-selling men’s magazine, and his workouts continue to reach large audiences in Australia and the UK. This book is great workout book - it has high glossy photographs that clearly enumerate the step-by-step instructions to perform your exercises with good form. I like this book because it has lots of information for getting into shape -- and it is easy to flip from section to section -- how to eat, how to start working out, sample workout sheets, stretches, lifts, training with and without weights. It has many strategies, for instance talking about the importance of using dumbbells in your workout and not just bench press. It show exercises for sculpting all parts of your body. It has some really healthy, easy recipes to help with getting in shape. The book helps you strategize your workout routines based on your goals and includes steps for staying motivated. The book devotes quite a number of chapters to major and minor trimming of fat as well as the more traditional muscle building. The quality of the book itself is outstanding - you flip it open to different sections and even from a distance the pictures are clear to see -- you can get used to using it as you start to work through different sections. The book is about 250 pages, and it is chock full of insightful and easy to understand instructions and suggestions -- I am excited to work through this book and get into shape!
