Women today feel pressure to be the best wife, mom, and professional possible - often at the expense of their own identity. But what if you could experience deep peace - knowing you are loved right now, just as you are? In Brave Love, the founder of the multi-million dollar company Lisa Leonard Designs inspires women to find themselves again amidst the noise and competing demands of real life.
Brave Love is about what it means to be human, how it feels to be broken and afraid, and what happens when we dare to love deeply. Join Lisa on a journey where you will discover you are worthy and lovable just as you are. You don't have to try harder or be better. You don't have to prove yourself and you don't have to make others okay. In this freedom you will find more peace and more joy. Most importantly, you will learn that as you stop trying to be everything to everyone, you will love others better.
Lisa Leonard shares her story of finding truth and wholeness in the midst of life's competing demands. When she said her marriage vows, she was determined to be the best wife she could be. When her first son was born with a severe disability, Lisa promised herself she would always be the mother he needed. When she began her jewelry business, Lisa committed to giving it her all.
Over the years, the exhaustion of trying to be the perfect wife, mother, and businesswoman took its toll. Lisa knew it wasn't working. She wanted to change things, but how? Everyone depended on her. So she kept going, kept pushing, kept trying to prove she could do it all. Until one evening, in tears and desperation, Lisa realized that she could no longer be everything to everyone. Somewhere along the way, she had lost herself.
In Brave Love, Lisa shares her story of losing - and finding - her own voice in the clamor of family, career, and internal pressure to prove herself.

Lisa you are such a brave lady to put your story out there for others to ready. You are such an inspirational lady!!!
This was one of the most honest books I've ever read. Lisa makes her feelings clear and I felt everything she was feeling...her ups, her downs, all of it. This book is raw and emotional and in certain parts, I felt like she was putting into words exactly what I was feeling but didn't quite know how to express. Don't read this book without a few tissues nearby for sure!
Lisa Leonard's personal journey and story of "brave love" is one everyone should read. She speaks from the heart with honesty about issues that so may struggle to find their way through as they search for peace , positivity , and growth as an ultimate outcome. Thank.you Lisa for sharing your story with us all! - Angelia #bravelovelaunchteam
Bought an autographed copy of the new Brave Love Book at Barnes & Noble yesterday in a store in Colorado!! I was so blessed to be on the book launch team, so I got to read an advanced copy via the publisher! It was an AMAZING read, BTW! So go buy it!! When I found out I could get an autographed copy with this beautiful necklace at a local Barnes & Noble via our launch team group, I jumped at the chance to go grab one!! So yesterday I brought my copy & I absolutely love that I now own an autographed copy and have the beautiful handmade necklace too!! Because I personally know many people who need to read this book, I’ve decided to gift a copy of this book that I pre-ordered online! Thanks for giving us such an honest, frank, peek into your life and family Lisa Leonard!! I loved every minute of this book and can’t wait to have my hubby read it too!! Just because book is being marketed to woman, doesn’t mean that men don’t need the all too important message of this book!! But don’t just take my word for it, read it for yourself!
This was a beautiful read by Lisa Leonard and I was grateful for the opportunity to be on her launch team and have an early copy to relish! This story begins with Lisa as a child and follows her journey through adulthood- including her marriage, birth of her two children and building a business. While I was familiar with Lisa's jewelry company- I did not know the struggles she faced with the birth of her first son and then how she found herself where she "wanted to be" in life but feeling completely alone. I think women - moms and others- will not only be able to appreciate her struggles but also be able to relate to her. Lisa's story was honest, raw and real. Her path is inspiring and her beautiful poems woven throughout the book was a wonderful reminder to all of us how special we each are.
Brave Love takes a deeper look at making space for yourself. Of realizing you can’t be everything for everyone and perfectionism will eat you alive. Self care can pendulum swing two ways. One end is all-about-me, poor-me, I’m-s-so-stressed, I-need-a-break, treat-yoself versus always caring for everyone else and ignoring your own needs and shoving down any identity of your own until you wake up one day and the fruit in your life is bitterness and resentment and everything else is choked out. Lisa Leonard offers us a very vulnerable look at her life, her heart and her tipping point. If you’re in need of a fresh reminder to rest, to give up the need to prove you can do it all and in this find yourself loving others better and more bravely, you’ll enjoy sitting with Lisa in this story.
In Brave Love, Lisa Leonard shares her story of bravery; the good, the bad and the ugly. She is honest, vulnerable and inspiring. As a mom of a special needs child, I found so much hope in her story. I felt encouraged and validated as I read about her experience parenting her son, David. At the end of each chapter, she shares a poem that she wrote that connects to the topic of the chapter, which was very sweet. It was a very quick read that I enjoyed very much. I would definitely recommend this book. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher.
Brave Love shares the journey of Lisa as she works to find and love herself as a new mother, businesswoman, and wife. Her stories and poems spoke right to my heart as a new mom and reminded me that it is ok to have my own needs and dreams. She shares her personal story of learning to be a better partner and mother as well by being her best self. This should be required reading for all new parents (especially if parenthood hasn't looked exactly as planned). As an adoptive mom, I found many personal connections to Lisa's story. I am so thankful for the words in this book and will refer back to them often!
As women, we often put ourselves in last place. We do for others, help our families and co-workers. But how often do we continue to neglect our own most basic needs? Lisa Leonard opens up about how she realized that she'd been placing everyone else in front of her own needs since childhood, and how that affected her health because of it. Lisa shares her story of how she met her husband, the birth of her two boys (one of whom has special needs) and the beginning of her wildly successful jewelry company, Lisa Leonard Designs. However, this is not a business book. "Brave Love" is a personal, heartfelt memoir that also leaves the reader evaluating the amount of time they take to replenish themselves. I enjoyed the conversational tone of the book, and Lisa is entertaining while being brutally honest. She openly shares the struggles in her marriage, the overwhelm that sets in as she feels as though she's taking on too much and the knowledge that she has been consistently putting her needs last. Lisa is also connected to her faith, which is obvious throughout the book. She shares personal poetry that ties to the theme of the chapters. (My favorite chapter in the book was one called "Meeting Jazmin" which you will need some Kleenex for, trust me.) The heart of this book is for the reader to hear Lisa's story and glean from both her mistakes and her triumphs. I couldn't put the book down and actually read it in one sitting. I have several friends who I know need the message therein and I plan on gifting a few copies as I am able to. I was an early reader thanks to Zondervan. All opinions are my own.
Lisa paints a very vivid picture of what she expected out of marriage and motherhood, and in turn what life dealt her. Her expectations for herself became impossible to keep up with. Trying to be the perfect wife, mom, and business owner was beginning to take a toll on her. One night, she finally let it all catch her. This book is about finding yourself in the midst of being everything for everyone. As a wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt, and coworker, this book completely resonated with me. It is so hard to be something to everyone. Once I stepped back and started doing things for myself FIRST, my perspective changed. This book is a practical way to start learning that you can't be everything to everyone. It is a must read! *I was given an advance copy of this book in exchange for my review.
This book is amazing! The way Lisa tells her stories makes them relatable. Her poetry at the end of each chapter encapsulates everything that she was trying to get the reader to understand with the chapter. The reader will feel every emotion as they see parts of their life through her story. Even if their story is different from hers, this book will still speak to them. I recommend this book to everyone who feels as though they have lost who they were and wants to find themselves again. I received this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest opinion.
I found this book to be a quick read. Once I picked it up it was easy to lose track of time. It is well written and sincere. I enjoyed the original poems at the end of each chapter. My favorite was Remind Me at the end of chapter 6. Lisa's vulnerability is refreshing and BRAVE! Her thoughts and words resonated with me. Lisa’s ability to share her true self and raw emotion with the world is inspiring! A reminder that no one’s life is picture perfect all the time. We all have struggles. Thank you, Lisa, for sharing and reminding me that it’s okay to take time for myself; It’s okay to stumble and start again; And that sharing my true self with the ones I love is important. We all deserve the red bowl! ***I had the privilege of receiving an advance reading copy of Brave Love from the publisher. ***
