About the Author

D. Renée Hamilton resides in Baton Rouge, Louisiana and is the proud mother of two brave and intelligent teens who during the aftermath of hurricane Katrina back in 2005 had to weather the storm of being separated from their mom for fourteen months. D. Renée currently works in the field of mental health, servicing children and adults. She is an alumnus of Louisiana State University with an undergrad degree in Psychology, and she is also a graduate of Oral Roberts University with a grad degree in counseling. In addition, D. Renée holds a state certification in both counseling and teaching. It is D. Renée’s most humble service to bring the message of forgiveness, hope, and freedom to women who are physically locked down and hidden from the face of mainstream society as well as those who are free, yet living in their own self-imposed prisons of fear, self-doubt, guilt and shame. In this era of mass incarceration she believes it is incumbent upon her to be a strong and compelling voice for prison reform and to utilize her non-profit organization, Simon Solomon Foundation to further the fight for equal justice for all.
