Cadillac Records (Deluxe Edition)

Cadillac Records (Deluxe Edition)

Written and directed by Darnell Martin, Cadillac Records chronicles the rise of Chess Records and its recording artists. The film stars Adrien Brody as Leonard Chess, Jeffrey Wright as Muddy Waters, Columbus Short as Little Walter, Mos Def as Chuck Berry, and Beyoncé Knowles as Etta James. Rounding out the cast are Gabrielle Union, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Cedric the Entertainer, Eamonn Walker and Tammy Blanchard. In this tale of sex, violence, race and rock and roll in 1950's Chicago, Cadillac Records follows the exciting but turbulent lives of some of America's musical legends, including Muddy Waters, Leonard Chess, Little Walter, Howlin’ Wolf, Chuck Berry and Etta James. The Cadillac Records soundtrack (Music World/Columbia) features performances by Beyoncé, Mos Def, Buddy Guy, Raphael Saadiq, Solange, Q-Tip and others, recording classics such as "At Last" and "Hoochie Coochie Man," as well as new tracks by Beyoncé.

Nice compilation. I wish the recording was better.

Against what most would have thought to be a boring Soundtrack, "Cadillac Records" turned out to be quite interesting and catchy. The sounds of yesteryear coupled with today's popular voices provides an interesting and fresh listen. Beyonce's coverage of Etta's "At Last" is one of the more popular releases, while "My Babe" (Columbus Short) and Mary Mary's song are favorites of mine. Great soundtrack!
