The station reenters the atmosphere protecting his pod from reentry and he is exhumed by a forest race of individuals. after a coma of months he learns that he has been suspended for over a hundred years aging only a couple of years physically. the world is now similar to the medieval period in terms of daily life with the exception that the chemical, biological and toxins released from the destruction has altered life genetically. he finds out that he is a magic wielder of a very special nature. Their are two types of magic present, solar and Earth and he is the only one who can use both, yet he doesn't know how given his 21 st century mind. There is a darker force residing in old New York that seeks to have him. The Feeder is unique among all magic users in that it has the ability to absorb others magic turning them into a walking dead, dying at its command if need be. The demonic force sends its armies to destroy the peaceful Gelds that shelter and teach Merrick. He is forced with a decision, either run or stay and fight. Along the way he discovers that he is the only person alive who can stop the wanton destruction of the Feeder. With his city under siege and all that he holds dear in this New world he must confront not only the terrible enemy, but his past as well.
