About the Author

Yulalona Lopez's life strangely parallels that of the hero of some of her novels, Coyote. She started out as an animal spirit and local legend to become an iconic image of mythical humor. She was raised by a Tohono O'odham father and schooled at local institutions, even unproductively at Harvard, to survive on the fringes of the modern monstrous megalith (with help from early investments in Apple, Cray and Microsoft). Through the magic of words, Lopez has taken on a more spiritual existence as she explores the range of behavior of animals and readers and their incessant desire to be special and rich.

Like Coyote, Lopez collects masks and bits of ruined technology. And, like Coyote, through her errors and greed, she points out the perils of selfishness in a limited world. Unlike Coyote, she can control her drooling and her odd sexual urges. She divides her time between west Tucson and south Tucson, Arizona, with occasional trips to her two-room den in North Tucson. She is an international sophisticate who only expresses herself locally. In a moment of weakness she put her info on Facebook and Urinepost.

Jerry Allison writes: As an important part of my art work, I have kept a daily visual diary for more than thirty years. Sometimes the images relate to events of my day, to my dreams, or to current events in the encompassing world. Often they are done as automatic drawings with no planning or preconceived images in mind. The hand begins to move, and out of a cobweb of lines, an image emerges.
On October 21, 2012, my visual diary was taken over by the spirit of Coyote. Since that date, I have been in a partnership with Coyote through which he reveals himself to the modern world. Not the common coyote of woods, fields, suburban backyards, and dense urban areas, but Coyote the Trickster, the Shape Shifter, the Holy Buffoon.
Please visit my website ( to learn more about this partnership. I am working towards a hard copy publication of The Coyote Drawings and see it as a multi-volume publication.
I am pleased and honored to collaborate with the mysterious Yulalona Leelanee Lopez, someone else possessed by Coyote.
