What a fascinating, important and well told original story. In style and development it reminded me of Hemingway, some of Faulkner and Flannery O'Connor, but it ranges into far more mystical territory in the American deep south. Everyone should look at this book that makes us ponder the path America's been following for the last fifty years through a family that has been all of us. I admired this novel for dealing with things few books dare to regarding true patriotism and America's real relationship with God.
I couldn't put it down once I started reading. I was led into a struggle by three brothers to save the family farm. One brother chose an unusual course and was helped by a brother and a friend. A fictional travel into a time in the past that could have very well taken place today. Would recommend this book highly to anyone.
