As a recent fan of Cyclops aka Scott Summers, I went into All New X-men expecting something good from his past self. While decent to great up to the Trial of Jean Grey, it felt like the character of Teen Cyke could be doing more considering his older self was proclaimed enemy no.1. But then while in space Corsair, his long thought dead Father and leader of the Space Pirates the Starjammers, reveals himself to be alive. And thus this book was made. Cyclops Vol 1 Starstruck is a space road trip featuring the Time displaced Scott Summers as he tries to connect to his space pirate father as well as try to change his future. While short, this was a great tale between two family members trying to find common ground and make up for lost time. While also being a swashbuckling affair. Greg Rucka is a great writer of creator owned works (Queen and Country, Lazarus) and working with DC (Gotham Central, Wonder Woman, Detective Comics etc...) and Marvel (Elektra, Daredevil, Punisher). On art, Russell Dauterman and Carmen Carnero do a great job with character designs while Chris Sotomayor gives the issues their color. It is a great space road trip and fun for fans of Cyclops who may want to see him outside his role in the X-men. I recommend this to anyone who likes family bonding and Cyclops. I eagerly await volume 2 A Pirate's Life for Me.
