Billy Currington was helped enormously by his duet with Shania Twain on "Party for Two," a new track on her 2004 Greatest Hits album. She had two versions of the song on the record -- one cut with Sugar Ray's Mark McGrath for the pop audience, the version with Currington for country fans, and it's not entirely a stretch to say that Currington is a country McGrath: good-looking, likeable, entirely comfortable with selling out so he can reach as big of an audience possible, yet kind of ingratiating because he's not only charming, he's good at it. And his second album, Doin' Something Right proves this: while it doesn't take any chances, it's a thoroughly entertaining and satisfying contemporary country album. Despite his protestations that he wants to be a hillbilly on the rocking, twangy opening cut, Currington has as strong a foundation in pop as he does in country. He not only gets a nicely mellow, relaxed Californian vibe on the title track, but he collaborates with Michael McDonald on "She's Got a Way with Me," a song that could have fit comfortably onto soft rock stations in the early '80s, when McDonald provided his signature gruff, soulful harmonies on every other track. Currington also covers Kenny Rogers' hit "Lucille," but he does a neat trick with it, one that illustrates why this album is so enjoyable: he does a harder country version than Rogers, proving that he can pull off both lighter pop and straight-ahead country with one performance. The rest of the record goes back and forth between these two extremes -- sometimes subtlety, sometimes not -- and Currington comes across like a blend of Kenny Chesney, Shania Twain, and Alan Jackson: he has the good looks and frat-boy sensibility of Chesney and the pop sense and common touch of Shania, but it's tempered by a touch of the neo-traditional twang of Jackson. The end is a cheerfully commercial country album, but one with muscle and heart, one that's as enjoyable when it's laid-back as when it rocks out. It's an excellent second album and one that should make Currington a star.

Billy's second album has proven that he is one of the hottest country singers around. His deep southern sound on this album brings you back to the roots of country. You can't help but dream he is singing about you in the balads and you can't help wanting to get up and dance and show him that you can be the girl he is singing about in the up tempo songs. This album is without a doubt A PLAY THROUGH.

This CD is GREAT!! I'm so tired of buying CD's and only liking a few of the songs. I definitely did not encounter that with this cd. ALL of the songs are great & I definitely can't get enough of it. (My 4 yr old always asks me to put it on in the car!) You cannot go wrong with this cd. It's definitely a must have!

This album is simply the best! Each song offers a different view into the voice of Billy Currington. My personal favorite is "She's Got A Way with Me" Which he co wrote with Michael McDonald, who plays piano and sings background on this song. Excellent! I think I can relate to "She Knows What to Do with A Saturday Night" I don't like the Knob on the Washing Machine either!! Great Great Great!!!

I didn't think Billy could top his first album, but I think he has! Besides the very sexy title song, I particularly love "Good Directions"! Can't wait to see him live, again!

Billy Currington's newest CD entitled "Doin Somethin Right" is supurb from the first trac to the last! The songs range from soulful and sexy to lighthearted and comical. Better buy 2 while you're here - you'll want to share this one with friends!

I love this new cd from Billy. It's just as HOT as the first one. I buy a cd and most of the time it only has one good song on it, but Billy's music is all good. Everyone of Billy's songs could be hits! You will love this cd as much as you did the first one!

If u liked billy's 1st cd or if u like him from his duet with shania twain on "party for two" u need to buy his new album. his voice makes u melt. the way his soft velvelty voice lingers on a note just makes u want more. this album features so many great songs but my favorites are "must be doin something right" and the kenny rogers remake "lucille". if u haven't bought this cd yet, what are u waiting for, get off ur butt and go get it. u won't be dissappointed.

Billy Currington's latest cd: "Doin' Something Right" is a step up from his last cd. Proving that he has a bright future in country music. He takes you on a trip threw the cd and shows us his awesome range of vocals, form "She's got a way", to "Lucille", (an exellent rendition on Kenny Rogers hit.) You have the soul full side and the pure country side. "She knows what to do with a Saturday night" and "I wanna be a Hillbilly" are sure to hits along with "Must be Doin' Somethin' Right". Not only will you get a good Billy cd, you get a more rooted country music cd as well. If you ever get a chance he's awesome Live!!

Billy's sophmore album is just amazing!! He is the total package!! This is a great addition to any CD collection!! I love how "Hillbilly" gets you moving and "Must be Doin' Somethin Right" and "She's Got a Way With Me" make you feel. Just listen and you will hear how Billy's voice carries you away. Pick up the first album too and you will be glad you did.

Billy is definitely 'doin something right' with this sophomore album! The album features several great songs that Billy himself wrote/co-wrote making the album very personal. He does an awesome job with Michael Mcdonald and the cover of Kenny Rogers 'Lucille'! If you have heard the chart climbing hit "must be doin something right" then you have heard talent but if not....Listen now!

I bought this CD the second it hit the shelves and havent stopped playing it since!! It's great!! He is so talented and has a great vocal range. He wrote or co-wrote 4 songs on this CD and is taleneted at that as well. He has a variety of songs ranging from fun and upbeat to ballads, including one with Michael McDonald that is just wonderful! Their voices compliment each other and sounds great! I highly recommend buying this CD and if you dont have his first CD that is a great buy too!
