I found the cast and each episode making me want to watch more. I haven't found anything like this for special effects and make up effects. I will definately add the next season to my shelf!

Angel is simply great. It is unlike any television show that is out there (besides Buffy). Entertaining, funny, suspenseful and more. I can't wait until season two comes out.

Angel may have left Sunnydale and Buffy but he can still hold his own. Since they had him leave and go to Los Angeles and create Angel Investigations he has grown stronger. He proved he doesnt need Buffy to grow. He has grown more as a person since he left the show Buffy and he is more dark and mysterious in Angel now. There are numerous crossing over episodes to keep the link between Angel and Buffy but we can see in Angel that he is slowly getting over her and that he is more stable in Angel and more of a people person. The first episode provided a recap of what happened in Buffy and it also helps establish the role of the characters and Angel's path to redemption in the show not just his life with Buffy as it did in Buffy.

The first season is great because it provides a recap within the first episode for those who may not have followed Buffy through the third season and is new to the character of Angel and his purpose in coming to LA. There's also a crossover episode with Buffy visiting him and it's a real tearjerker. The first season of Angel establishes the role characters and overall theme of transition and redemption.

Though Season 1 of Angel did crossover frequently with Buffy, it allowed the central character room that it didn't have on Buffy to expand. That was a good thing--we got Boreanaz/Angel as brooding, uncomfortable with attention, humorous, and reluctantly heroic. Charisma Carpenter's Cordelia evolved from Sunnydale vapid to aware of what there was outside of herself (Though looking at herself wasn't too bad of a sight, either). The sadness of losing Doyle--with Glenn Quinn's party-demon slovenliness--was replaced with Alexis Denisof's beginning of having Wesley evolve from the prissy Watcher to the 'rogue demon hunter' he really was at the end of the series. But overall, a strong introduction to Angel's LA life--his agency, the ongoing battles with Wolfram and Hart, his budding relationship with Gunn, his woman troubles...

The entire first season of Angel was amazing. What's more amzing is what went on behind the scenes. If you haven't checked this set out...DO IT NOW!! David, Charisma, and Glenn are some of the hottest actors in Hollywood. If you haven't got the First Season on DVD, you haven't got anything.
