A man belatedly discovers a side of his father that's long been hidden in this drama from writer and director Ivo M. Ferreira. Pedro (Goncalo Waddington) has lived in Portugal his whole life, and when his grandmother (Adelaide Joao) prepares to move out of her home and into an assisted living facility, he uncovers some papers that paint a disturbing portrait of his late father. Portugal went through several years of political instability following a revolution in 1974, and the information Pedro has discovered suggests his dad was part of a radical group that used kidnapping to achieve their ends. Pedro is determined to know the truth and despite the fact his girlfriend Rita (Joana Seixas) is soon to give birth to their child, he sets out to uncover the facts about his father's actions. However, neither Pedro's grandmother or his mother Leonor (Lidia Franco) are eager to look back to a troubling era they've spend years trying to forget. Aguas mil (aka April Showers) was an official selection at the 2009 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
