The origins of the Caped Crusader of Gotham City are finally brought to the big screen in this new adaptation of the perennially popular comic-book series. The young Bruce Wayne (Gus Lewis) leads a privileged life as the son of wealthy, philanthropist parents, both of whom stress their commitment to improving the lives of the citizens of crime-ridden Gotham City. After his mother and father are murdered by a mugger, however, Wayne grows into an impudent young man (Christian Bale), full of rage and bent on retribution until encouraged by his childhood sweetheart, Rachel Dawes (Katie Holmes), to search for answers beyond his own personal vendettas. Wayne eventually finds discipline in the Far East under the tutelage of Henri Ducard (Liam Neeson), a member of the mysterious League of Shadows who guides him in the study of martial arts -- and the ways in which an ordinary man can hone his senses to an almost superhuman acuity. After seven years away from Gotham, Wayne returns, determined to bring peace and safety back to the city. With the help of his faithful manservant, Alfred Pennyworth (Michael Caine), and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman), a scientist at his late father's corporation, Wayne develops a secret identity as Batman, a masked fighter for justice. But when a shady psychiatrist (Cillian Murphy) joins forces with the criminal underworld, Wayne realizes that putting an end to their nefarious plans will be very difficult indeed. Batman Begins also features Gary Oldman as Lt. James Gordon and Tom Wilkinson as the crime boss Carmine Falcone.

Holy Reboot Batman! This is the best Batman movie ever. After the disappointed movie of Batman and Robin, Christopher Nolan did an excellent job in writing and directing this movie. Christian Bale did an excellent job performance as Batman. i love Batman and I'm a big fan of the Dark Knight.

Hands down the best movie of the year in my opinion. Beautiful cinematography. Great acting. Great story. This is how Batman should be done! I saw the movie four times in theatres and can't tell you how many times I've watched my DVD already and have loved every minute of it! Can't wait till 2008 for the sequel! Hopefully Nolan and Co. will outdo themselves again!

This is absolutely the best Batman movie I've ever seen. Bale is also the finest actor to ever wear the suit. All other Batman movies pale in comparison to this version. Do yourself a favor and watch this movie.

Rating: 98% Although it may not live up to the Dark Knight, Batman Begins is still an exciting and unforgettable adventure filled with excellent performances and intense scenes of action.

First of all, let me just say that I loved Tim Burton's two Batman films. I loved his vision of Gotham City being dark and gritty, much like the people who inhabit it. Loving these movies so much, I was just a bit skeptical of this movie directed by Christopher Nolan. I knew that he was a great independent filmmaker who specialized in great character studies and terrific atmospheres, but that might not translate into a great action movie. However, he turned out to be just the man for the job. He not only provided thrill seekers with incredible action scenes, but he also gave people a real inside look into Bruce Wayne's psychology. The film was appropriately dark, just like a comic book. Christian Bale proved himself to be the best Bruce Wayne/Batman combination ever to grace the screen, and the supporting cast was excellent. Ultimately, this was a fantastic experience that proved a hit with fans of action, comic books, Batman, and fine film alike. I'll definitely be picking this up on DVD. The deluxe edition, though.

This movie is visually stunning, the actors very well chosen. Haven seen Michael Caine as Alfred he has become indispensable as Alfred. Christian Bale was fabulous as well. And the plot did not insult anyone's intelligence.

I admit, when I first saw advertisements for this movie I did not want to see it. I loved Spiderman and Superman, but at Batman I drew the line. However, I went to see it with a friend and was surprised. Surprised that it was AWESOME that is! It wasn't all based on his high-tech gadjets, though there were some good ones, but on Batman himself, how he grew and how he changed. It was perfect. A great film. Perfect.

This movie made me a fan of comic books and of movies made from them. I have seen parts of batman movies and was never interested, but this one was awesome. Cillian Murphy made this movie....didn't know he could be so cruel..... I loved it!!!!

I couldn't help but go to see this movie in the theater a second time to make sure it was as good as it seemed the first time around (it was). It's a superhero movie that even non-fans will enjoy, since the characters are so well sketched out by a terrific script and a killer all-star cast. The movie's contemporary setting and realism take the Batman story into the realm of near-plausibility. The director, Christopher Nolan, clearly took these characters and the story very seriously and has a sincere respect for them to which audiences really respond. There are also several great, unexpected moments of tenderness and wit. Overall, one of the top three superhero movies of all time (the other two appear below)!

Good Batman? Check (Christian Bale). Good Director? Check (Chris Nolan). Good Villan? Yep (Liam Neeson and Cillian Murphy). This was a great film! Christian Bale was the first good Batman since Michael Keaton. Michael Caine was a great Alfred. This was a fantastic film! After you see this film, go see The Dark Knight, a direct sequel! It was 10 times better than this film, and that is hard to come by!

The key to Batman's longevity has always been his ability to strike fear in the hearts and minds of all criminals and someone finally got it right. What a great job by Christian Bale and for that matter the rest of the cast. This is the only Batman flick where "I" was afraid of Batman. Key scene- what I call the Cop Yo-Yo. The intensity on Bale's face made me a believer as I had publicly disagreed with a Brit playing the role of Batman. It's like asking an American to play James Bond, but I digress. Even friends of mine who don't like comics enjoyed this film immensely. Can't wait to see Batman go up against the Joker next time around.

This is how movies should be made depending on the genre of course. When I found out the Scarecrow was going to be in it I was so excited and that Cillian Murphy was in it as well (he was just amazing in Red Eye). This is like a prequel where it tells on how Bruce became Batman and meets Henri Ducard. Bale does make a pretty good Batman and had no idea that Gary Oldman was in the film playing Detective Gordon. The pace is great as well as the suspense. Totally recommend it and check out the animated series.

I wish they had more stars because this movie deserves a 10! Bale protrayed the character of Bruce Wayne and Batman with conviction, mostly the Batman character. I loved this movie.I love the fact that the storyline is not about the Joker or the Pengiun or Catwoman but about how Bruce becomes Batman.I love the scene when Batman had the Police Officer dangling in the rain and the way that Bale protrayed Batman's hate of criminals was unbelievable. I loved Batman, and Batman Returns, but this movie tops both of them. I also loved the fact that you never see that he really uses the grapling gun to hoist himself in the air he just bolts straight up. It gaves the Batman character more of an awe experience from the criminals. A must see even if your not a Batman fan.
