Saw duo James Wan and Leigh Whannell re-team for this chilling tale of a widower (Ryan Kwanten) who returns to his hometown to unearth clues about his recently departed wife's untimely death. In the quiet town of Ravens Fair, children taunt one another with spooky stories about a ventriloquist whose mind was ravaged by insanity. Mary Shaw was a popular entertainer until she was accused of murdering a young boy. Subsequently hunted and captured by the vengeful townspeople, Mary's tongue was cut out before she was mercilessly killed and committed to the earth in the company of her handmade collection of vaudeville dolls. In the years that followed, the town seemed to be haunted by those ghastly puppets. After mysteriously disappearing from Mary's grave, the menacing figurines would sometimes be glimpsed by the damned in the dead of night -- their appearance consistently foreshadowing the death of whoever laid eyes upon them. Entire families were found slaughtered, their tongues brutally torn from their mouths in a sickening scene that eerily recalled the execution of the elderly ventriloquist. Newlyweds Jamie (Ryan Kwanten) and Lisa Ashen (Laura Regan) both grew up in Ravens Fair. Now, following Lisa's inexplicable death, Paul has returned to the pair's hometown in order to say his final goodbyes and find out the truth about his wife's enigmatic demise. After being reunited with his ailing father (Bob Gunton) and the aging man's pretty young bride (Amber Valletta), the grieving widower will finally uncover the shocking truth behind the curse that has plagued Ravens Fair for as far back as he can remember.

I love horror movies and I bought this movie the 1st time I saw it. This is actually a scary movie and you see some blood and guts also. But these are how horrors are supposed to be made. Excellent.

Heard it wasn't that good but wanted to see it and now I have and thought it was alright. Basically its about a guy from a weird family and the ghost of a creepy old lady and her annoying of them reminded me of Goosebumps Slappy and the name Bill so reminded me of Saw where the guys who did this also did Saw. And what a twist at the end like the Saw movies and M. Night's movies. Well both writers are good.

I attempted to see this film in theaters, but of course the theater was filled with laughing, talking, screaming, thirteen year old kids which ruined it. When the intensity of a scene is lead by the surrounding going silent, it doesn't offer much when you have kids yelling at the screen at the same time. Overall the movie seemed pretty sweet and I can't wait to see it in the comfort of my own apartment and surround sound. I think I'm starting to see why older people go to matinee movies.

Wow. It is hard for me to find the words to describe how awful this movie is. Considering it had the writer/director from "Saw" and recent Oscar nominee Mark Wahlberg in it, one would think that this movie is NOT a hunk of garbage--but one would be wrong. The story is dumb, and Wahlberg gives us a forced, trite, and almost laughable performance, and he's one of the better actors in the movie! Do yourself and run as fast as you can and as far as you can from this movie.

I wasn't expecting a lot from this flick, so many of today's horror films are just lame, but this one was rather good. If you like creepy movies this is one to see. Not over the top with gore, but pretty disturbing and had a great story.

and to Jason Clark...It's Donnie Whalberg &quot of New Kids on the Block fame&quot , not Mark Whalberg. How could you think he was Mark?
