In this thriller, Ashley Judd plays Elizabeth Parsons, who is convicted of murdering her husband and sentenced to a long stretch in prison. After Elizabeth has spent six years behind bars, it turns out that her husband is still alive: he faked his own death as part of an insurance scam, and Elizabeth is soon released. However, Elizabeth's feelings for her husband can hardly be described as warm, and she wants custody of her son. Elizabeth's parole officer (Tommy Lee Jones) wonders if she might try to make his murder a real thing after all, especially since the law states a person cannot be convicted of the same crime twice. Double Jeopardy was directed by Bruce Beresford, from a screenplay by Douglas S. Cook and David Weisberg.

I don't like the part that condones revenge and killing someone (because of the Double Jeopardy rule you can do it and go free), but I do think that Ashley Judd gives one of her strongest performances. She drives this movie.

Double Jeopardy is a good movie. Tommy Lee Jones does an amazing job as usual. Ashley Judd does a very good job potraying a mother who is grieving over being seperated from her son and is determined to find him upon her release. The sequence where Tommy and Ashley's characters go under water in the car is amazing especially since the actors did the stunt themselves (no stunt doubles were used). The movie does not have any major special effects to it but the acting is solid. The story line is good. The only thing I wish there were more of is those sarcastic lines that Tommy Lee Jones does so well.

This movie shows suspense and a rewl life crisis that will happen any day. 5 thumbs up.

Ms. Judd is excellent in this engaging film. The drama keeps her prison time short and focus is on what occurs when she leaves prison. The Double Jeopardy law gives away the ending, but the movie moves along and keeps you watching till the end. I like Tommy Lee Jones, although this is not one of his best performances - his character here is a bit boring.
