Filmmaker Steve Judson, who received an Academy award nomination for his documentary Dolphins, explores another variety of inner space in this film, shot in the high-definition IMAX process. Dr. Hazel Barton and Nancy Aulenbach are scientists brought together by their interest in caves -- Aulenbach researches the life cycles of plants and animals that thrive in caves, while Barton believes study of the ecosystems of caves might provide valuable information on treating diseases in humans. Barton and Aulenbach are joined by veteran spelunker Janot Lamberton as they explore spectacular cave formations in Arizona, Mexico, and Greenland. Journey Into Amazing Caves is narrated by noted actor Liam Neeson.

This is a bummer. These IMAX shows are seldom over an hour, but this one is only 40 minutes. To make it worse, less than half of it is filmed inside caves. The rest of the time is spent above ground watching the explorers run around. It hardly tells you anything about cave formation, structure or the animals that live in caves. Unfortunately it's the only DVD about caves, but if you're interested in geology get one of my recommendations below.

The Moody Blues' music is AWESOME and a MUST-HAVE for all Moodies collectors. The narration by Liam Neeson is also worth it! As an actor, I can appreciate the spoken word. But the BEAUTY of this DVD is unequalled. THANK YOU to all those who made this Journey possible!

Excellent documentary about cave exploration in search of extreme life forms that may help find new substances to combat diseases. If watched into its original IMAX format, some of the scenes will really make you grab into your seat.

Set against the colorful and fascinating backdrops of nature, this DVD is total enjoyment from beginning to end. The story, beautifully narrated by Liam Neeson, involves cave explorers and combines breathtaking scenery like you haven't experienced with music you know and love. The influence of the quality Moody Blues music partners with this perfect scenario, blending the two that make for a very intriguing DVD that is also a dream to listen to. I have previously purchased the CD soundtrack and immediately fell in love with it, inspiring me to make this DVD purchase. You will not be disappointed, especially if you are a Moodies fan. The musicians on the DVD cover the Moodies releases and make them a real joy. There are several new Moody Blues originals included as well. Very well done. This compilation was featured in many Omni-Max Theater presentations, making for a fascinating experience. Excellent.
