Expanding on their Saturday Night Live characters, John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd star as Jake and Elwood Blues, two white boys with black soul. Sporting cool shades and look-alike suits, Jake and Elwood are dispatched on a "mission from God" by their former teacher, Sister Mary Stigmata (Kathleen Freeman). Said mission is to raise $5000 to save an orphanage. In the course of their zany adventures, the Blues Brothers run afoul of neo-Nazi Henry Gibson, perform the theme from Rawhide before the most unruly bar crowd in written history, and lay waste to hundreds of cars on the streets and freeways of Chicago. In case you aren't swept up in the infectuous nuttiness of the brothers Blue, you might have fun spotting film's legion of guest stars, including James Brown, Cab Calloway, Aretha Franklin, Ray Charles, John Candy, Carrie Fisher, Steve Lawrence, Twiggy, Paul Reubens (aka Pee-Wee Herman), Frank Oz, and Steven Spielberg.

I've always enjoyed this film. It's hilarious, and it has many cameos by famous singers like James Brown. John Belushi will be missed. R.I.P.

One of the top five comedies of all time. A family favorite shared from generation to generation. Line after quotable line. "Illinois Nazis. I hate Illinois Nazis."

I LOVE police chase movies! What makes the chase even funnier is that Jake and Elwood are trying to reunite their band and raise money for the orphanage that they grew up in. That's why they're ''on a mission from God.'' I've seen this movie so many times, yet I still laugh when I watch it. It's got good music and many guests appearances from famous musicians. And a lot of action. I still think it's funny.

Great Music, great comedy, with the greatest comedy team ever. Don't miss a scene, from beginning to end, every minute is a classic

Who can forget the riffs, the laughs, and the goof-ups of those cool men in dark shades and questionable suits known as the Blues Brothers? On a mission, legitimate or illicit, to finance money for Sister Mary Stigmata, they are "on a mission from God." So, as heroes depart, must put the band back together and, of course, destroy a couple of police cars and supermarkets in the process. John Belushi, may you rest in peace.

This is THE greatest comedy of the 80s, bar none. I never tire of watching this awesome film and I'll always miss John Belushi.

Saturday Night Live vets John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd plays the ordinary band, The Blues Brothers. They are set to complete their first mission, getting the band back together and try to fool the authority in the process. Also stars "Star Wars" fame Carrie Fisher as Jake's old flame trying to get revenge.
