I saw this old movie quite by chance when I was in elementary school and fell in love with Captain Greg. I forgot all about it for a decade or so, and saw it again today on Turner Classics. And guess what... Still Love Captain Greg!!! What a movie. So I came here to B& to order myself a copy to have and to hold.

I've always loved this wonderful love story that transcends even death! I have a granddaughter that was frightened of ghosts, so I remembered this wonderful ghost story and shared it with her so she could see another, beautiful side of the ghost story. Wonderful unforgetable story. Utterly charming.

Jean Tierney (Mrs. Lucy/Lucia Muir) and Rex Harrison (Capt. Daniel Gregg) are excellent together in this well-told romantic film that shows love crosses all boundaries. They make a perfect couple, even though Capt. Gregg is a ghost. This film can be watched by the entire family, curled up alone on your couch, or with your significant other. No swearing. No sex. No nudity. Just a darn good, romantic, feel good film.

Classic movie about a widow that moves with her daughter to a house that's haunted by a ghost who was a sea captain. Good performances by the lead actors that played Mrs. Muir and Captain Gregg. Ending is quite sad. Recommend the movie if you like ghost stories with a hint of a romance and or classic movies.

How can you go wrong with Rex Harrison ?? And the beautiful Gene Tierny. With his thundering voice but yet so much love. A beautiful movie I watch whenever it's on. My most memorable time was with my the end he was wiping his eyes..and said you didn't tell me it was going to be sad!!! You will love it!!

I love this movie. Perfect for a rainy afternoon and a cup of tea when the husband is out with the kids.

The Ghost and Mrs.Muir is a movie you can see over and over and never tire of it.The score is one of the most haunting and beautiful ever put into film. Tierney was beautiful and Harrison was a crusty old rascal. The supporting cast only adds to this movie gem.

I fell in love with this movie and its characters the first time I ever saw it. When I discovered that it was available on DVD, I had to have it. Tierney and Harrison are perfectly matched as the proper young widow and the ghost of the salty sea captain. Full of vivid images, often subtle humor, and high romance, this is a wonderful fantasy. The ending has always been one of my favorites of any film. If you've seen "Somewhere in Time" with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour, you know from whence came the idea for the end of that movie, too. Captivating and not to be missed.

What a wonderful story - makes one realize how complete love really is always. A classic from the past - which, in my book, is where most of the good movies come from.

This great movie showed that relationships are not treated as disposible items when they get difficult(as is the case in today's instant gratification world). I liked it because the individuals did not need sex, violence and 4 letter words to communicate a good and lasting relationship.

Graced with a haunting and beautiful score by the magnificent Bernard Herrmann, this movie continues to stand the test of time as one of the great Hollywood romances. Masterfully shot, acted, and produced, this film has it all: palpable chemistry between its stars, moments of delightful humor, a brilliant script, and a perfect, eternally hopeful end. Tierney's Mrs. Lucy Muir turns out to be a strong, yet endearingly vulnerable leading lady, and Harrison's swashbuckling Capt. Gregg is a wonderful combination of male bravado and unexpected tenderness. George Sanders as the cad is appropriately slimy and seductive, and the scene where Lucy finds out the truth about him is both painful and touching. There are also some classic characters, most notably the realtor, Mr. Coombe, and Lucy's insufferably dysfunctional in-laws. A very young Natalie Wood is used only minimally, but it is always good to see her. The scene where Mrs. Muir and her now-grown daughter discover that they both 'dreamed' of the ghost of a sea captain demonstrates their abiding love for one another without them ever having to say it. A true classic, and of my favorite films of all time.

This is one of the all time classic romantic films ever made. This film has all the right formulas of a classic film noir. A romantic setting in a small cottage on the shores of England, fog shrouded coastal town, a beautiful mystical musical score by Bernard Hermann and a deep unspoken love between the two main characters. This film will make you laugh, cry and wish you were in love. Something to watch for: Not once in the entire film do the lead characters even touch each other, except at the end of the film. Imagine that, a love story where the two main characters never even kiss.

Tierney and Harrison are excellent in this film. The score and the scenery set the tone for this most unusual story. It has everything going for it, and, for that, has stood the test of time. The greatest film ever made. See it again and again.

I watch this movie whenever I need to de-stress and get away from the fast paced, tech world of this century. It is my perfect movie. The British countryside, the ocean, the dreamlike house and the haunting musical score set the tone for the rugged sea captain and Mrs. Muir's love story.

I love this movie. It has a great story, a haunting score, and good characters. Capt. Gregg is amazingly funny...and surprisingly sensitive. This movie offers light comedy and some intense dramatic moments. It has something for everyone. I highly recommend it.

This movie is one of my all-time favorites. I have had a ''thing'' for sea captains ever since I saw it the first time years ago. A time-less story of love and confirmation of the concept of soul mates.

When you begin to doubt that any quality movie can move you, or make you want to be in love, much less appreciate the one you already love, this is the one! Beautifully written, excellent cast, & outstanding performances. You'll remember this one for a very long time!
