Sydney Pollack's romantic drama The Way We Were comes to DVD with a widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English, Spanish, Chinese, Korean, Thai, and Portuguese subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include a commentary track recorded by the director, a featurette featuring new interviews with the major players, theatrical trailers, and production notes. Columbia/TriStar deserves credit for doing such a fine job with an older title.

This is without a doubt one of the greatest love stories of all time. The movie is unique not just because of the superb performances of both Barbra Streisand and Robert Redford but also because of the political backdrop, around which the film is quietly yet violently based. I decided to write this review because I've just finished watching the movie. Although I've seen it too many times to count, I still cried, just like always. It's just such an emotional film.. you get so caught up in the characters.. their lives, their problems, their happiness, their devastation.. when the movie ends, you simply have no desire to live your own life! What's the point? This is a masterpiece, kids. A true Classic.

My mom told me about the 'The Way We Were' when I was about 12 and how good looking Robert Redford was in it and how sweet the movie is. I'm 16 now and I've watched the movie twice. Each time I cried and each time I was touched by the amount of love present between Hubbel and Katie. The movie is so sweet and poignant. It is also realistic because the ending is a bittersweet one. Not all romances can end in 'happily ever after.' This one is a classical because of the writing, filming, and, definitely in my opinion, ending.

This is a fantastic movie - certainly a fave of mine. Barbara Striesand and Robert Redford make an excellent screen pairing...but just why is Babs always put with blonde pretty boys? Anyway...this really is a fantastic film, that is both heartwarming and heartwrenchingly sad. One of the best romantic films ever made. beautifully bittersweet. And Robert Redford...whoa! What a BABE!
