About the Author
Dr. Maureen Gouveia-Whitehead grew up in England, UK from where she immigrated to America in 1996 and presently resides in Orlando, Florida. She is a Doctor of Philosophy with a PhD in Leadership for Higher education with distinction from Capella University. Her tenure in the education industry spans over 31 years and she is currently the founder of MMGW Christian Academy (a nonprofit school for adult learners) in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Maureen Gouveia-Whitehead has been recognized as a Distinguished Professional in education and featured in the 2015/2016 edition of Women of Distinction Magazine.
As a seasoned educator and administrator Dr. Maureen Gouveia-Whitehead continues to improve lives by motivating students to be productive citizens who can achieve knowledge and confidence for the betterment of themselves and their community – yes, she believes in making an IMPACT!! She also believes that education help build integrity, self-esteem, and leads to self-sufficiency. In her various administrative roles Dr. Maureen Gouveia-Whitehead have always advocated for educational change and improvement, specifically policy related to the future of higher education for areas pertaining to fiscal, civic, social (including cultural diversity inclusion), economics, and technology. To this end she continues to enhance and use her knowledge, understanding and skills in joining the many scholars and practitioners already making a difference in the field of education.
