At last, Alexa and King Damian are engaged to be married. But their lives are far from safe. The kingdom of Antion is under siege, and Rylan is a prisoner of the enemy. Even worse, Alexa remains at the mercy of the evil Dansiian Rafe, who controls her mind and can force Alexa to kill or harm Damian at any moment. Despite this, Alexa is determined to rescue Rylan, which soon leads her far from Damian and deep into enemy territory.

When she arrives, what awaits her is deadlier than anything she could have ever imagined: an army of black sorcerers and a horrifying plot to destroy the world as Alexa knows it. Will she be able to gather the strength to free herself, protect the love of her life, and save the land? Will there ever be true peace?

Acclaimed author Sara B. Larson has woven a stunning, romantic, and evocative finale to the Defy trilogy that is sure to leave readers breathless until the very last page.

From Endure Damian's hand was clenched so tightly around the locket that his knuckles were white. "Why do they want you? Why would Armando want your blood?" Something deep inside of my belly clenched, sending a rolling wave of nausea through me. "I don't know." Damian stared down at his fist. "Please don't do this. Please don't go. If you do ... they'll take you from me. Forever this time." He closed his eyes. "I can feel it. If you go, I will lose you." I crossed to where he stood and put my hand over his. When he looked into my face, his expression was bleak. "Together we can do anything, remember?" "But we aren't doing this together. You're going alone." With my free hand, I reached up to cup his face and gently pulled his mouth toward mine, until our lips met. He trembled beneath my touch, threatening to break apart. He'd let me past the careful wall he had built around himself for so many years, giving me the power to hurt him more deeply than I could probably imagine, and that knowledge made me want to scream and cry and never let him go. His arms came around me, his hands clutching at my tunic as he pressed my body against his. The desperation we battled seeped into our kiss, evidenced by the bitter taste of salt on my tongue from tears. I wanted to lose myself in the heat of his touch, in the need that pounded through my blood, coalescing in my limbs and belly. But I couldn't do that to him. I couldn't love him completely and then leave him alone. With a gasp, I tore myself away and he let me go. We stood motionless, breathing heavily, and then I said, "I'll come back. I promise." He just stared at me, silent and resigned. Summoning every ounce of strength I had, I turned and strode away, toward the curtain that hid the door to the passageway. Just when I lifted the fabric to pull it back Damian spoke. "I love you, Alexa." I didn't dare turn around and look at him, afraid it would be my undoing. "I love you, too." And then I stepped out of his sight and into the darkness.

This is the third book in the series so I'm going to assume that most people reading this review have read the first two books. To the people deciding if they should read the third book in the series: why wouldn't you finish the series? Not finishing would be like eating only half a cookie. Why would anyone do that?!? I tell you - no one! Most of us when it comes to cookies or the final book of a series are like the Cookie Monster. What I thought of the book: To be honest, it was a disappointing conclusion to a series that started great. Most of the book was spent trying to build it to a climax which is not how a final book should be. It should be in the thick of the climax; not building it. What made it worse was that I wasn't engaged with the story line or characters. Characters could die and I wouldn't care one bit. It felt like the author was giving us crumbs of a cookie not a gooey, chewy, M&M filled cookie. I could see the potential but it just didn't deliver.

I cannot get past how DUMB Alexa is and the really stupid and seldish decisions she makes. Why does anyone love her? She is so annoying. I hope i can finish reading bc the book was expensive, and i am not convinced it was worth it.

Like the other books, this is fast paced and a fun read. While it seems there are several who may disagree, I still think this book and entire series is worth it. I loved this series and am now a big supporter of Ms. Larson's work!

This entire series was such a disappointment. The girl dressed and man trope, while not creative is mostly fun, was not exploited. Once her gender identity is revealed she becomes such a cliche. Obsessed with a prince , crying at every turn, and constantly making irrational decisions. I admit to enjoying a predictable plot occasionally, but this was just a pain to read. I finished the series simply because I started it. Not worth the time unless you're begging for predictability, jumpy plots, and mind numbing repetition.

This one gave a recap in a very neat way King Damian was thinking of how his mom would tell the story of what had happened in the last two books so that helped to catch me up a little bit and also was a neat way of approaching the recap issue. we get to see more of the romance between Alexa and Damien and I'm so glad that they're out in the open. there's some pretty steamy scenes between them but nothing that would cause me to think it was turning into more of a new adult novel or anything. We also get to see a lot of the other characters and we lose some of them in the wartime and others stick by Damian's side. he has to make a lot of tough decisions and he also has to come to grips with the fact that Alexa is part of his guard and she wants to fight for the country and she wants to play her part in helping to save her friends and people who are loyal. but she also has to realize that she is going to be the queen and she has to figure out a way to balance that. The series finale brings the answers, action, and conclusion that I wanted. There were people that I wish didn't die, but I can understand why and see the foreshadowing. They all died doing something they believed in, and had already promised to give their life if needed for that cause, Bottom Line: Good series ending.

This was a pretty good book. I still loved the story line, however, found myself skimming pages that were just more and more descriptions of the landscape. It seemed to have a lot of filler, and and rushed ending.

A great conclusion to a fantastic series! It had everything you could want--suspense, action, romance, and triumph over evil. I think was my favorite of the series. I will miss Damian, Alexa, and Rylan. Thank you for a wonderful ride Sara.

This isn't the first time I have sat down and attempted to write a review for Endure by Sara B. Larson. Trying to wrap my mind around everything that happened in Endure is just about impossible for me. I've wondered for a week how my review could give the book and Sara. B Larson the credit they deserve. Well, first, I will start by saying how much Sara and her books have affected me and my life. In Endure, Alexa protected her new, young king, Damian, with a vigor even though he fought to keep her safe and by his side because of their engagement and their fierce love for each other. But then, Alexa realizes she needed to go find Rylan, her best friend, before he was brought to their psychotic enemy king under the watchful eye of Rafe, a man who hates Alexa with a burning passion because she was part of the death of his sister. Damian reluctantly allows Alexa to go find Rylan but sends Eljin, a talented sorcerer to help protect her. At the border of Dansii, the enemy kingdom, Alexa and Eljin are captured and brought through tunnels. Once they made it through, Alexa finds Rylan barely alive. She is forced to agree to the king's twisted plans in order to save her two friends. Instead of going further with my summary of the book, I will say this: DEATH, DEATH, AND MOOOOORE DEATH. DEEEEAAAATHHHH! Followed by: lots and lots of tears (by the reader). But Sara B. Larson crafted each death, and each escape of death, with such beauty that I had never quite seen before. A lot of authors add in death for a "twist" or because they need something "interesting" but each death in Endure was done with perfection. They died with honor. Died protecting each other. Died to finally put an end to Dansii's threat. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Even if you aren't a fan of Fantasy, it will be worth the time. You won't regret it.

There were so many things to love about Endure. I had been waiting and waiting for this one, wanting to know how Alexa and Damian's story would continue, but also dreading the end, since I didn't want the story to be over. Endure is exactly the right title for this one. This was my first thought after I finished. Sometimes, story titles don't seem to match the book, but this one, as soon as I finished, I just thought, what a perfect title. The characters endure so much for the final outcome, and it was one heck of a journey to follow along. The characters have grown so much through this series, and I have loved making the journey alongside them. Sara B Larson continues to bewitch me with her craft and skill; the magical world that Damian and Alexa live in is one I'd love to be swept up in, and I consistently want to learn more about it. The lore of the land becomes a bigger influence in Endure, and that in itself was fascinating. Paired with the high stakes, non-stop action, and that hint of romance between Damian and Alexa, it kept me coming back for more. Endure was that satisfying end to the series, one I'll look at with fondness since it was that perfect goodbye.

***Review posted on The Eater of Books! blog*** Endure by Sara B. Larson Book Three of the Defy series Publisher: Scholastic Press Publication Date: December 29, 2015 Rating: 4 stars Source: ARC sent by the publisher Summary (from Goodreads): At last, Alexa and King Damian are engaged to be married. When she arrives, what awaits her is deadlier than anything she could have ever imagined: an army of black sorcerers, and a horrifying plot to destroy the world as Alexa knows it. Will she be able to gather the strength to free herself, protect the love of her life, and save the land? Will there ever be true peace? What I Liked: What a lovely conclusion to this series! I thought Defy and Ignite were pretty good, but this book is probably my favorite. Another series completed! I'll definitely be looking out for more books by Larson in the future. This series is a light, quick trilogy that you could binge-read over a few days, and fall in love with the characters! Alex has accepted Damian's proposal, but all is not completely well in Antion. Damian has no idea that Rafe can take over her mind at any minute. What's more, Rylan has been taken by Rafe, and Alexa must bring him back. The war against Dansii spreads to Blevon, and the showdown will be as devastating and as epic as expected. This book wrapped up really well, exactly as a conclusion novel should. It's intense and had me at the edge of my seat at times, but everything is wrapped up by the end of the book. There are deaths, realizations, and new beginnings at the end, and I loved it all. Alexa shows her strength and her nine lives in this book. She loves Damian with all of her heat, but she is determined to save Rylan. He saved her in Ignite, and he's like a brother to her; she can't leave him to die. Traveling to Dansii proves to be troublesome, and Alexa has to face King Armando of Dansii, Rafe, and the Summoner. I like Alexa's character growth overall, throughout the series. It's pretty brave of her to accept Damian's proposal, to be willing to step into the role of queen. It's even braver that she is willing to lay it all down to save a friend. At first this didn't sit well with me - she would leave Damian?! But then I thought about if my sister were taken - honestly I would totally leave my boyfriend behind to save a sibling or loved one. Damian is such a sweetie! He carries so much weight on his shoulders, as a young king and newly affianced man. We often see him struggling, trying to make the right decision for Antion, for his people, for Alexa too. He never tries to cage Alexa in, though he always wants to protect her. I respect him so much for not trying to own her or use his title over her - though he'd be within his rights to do so, technically. I won't say much about the plot but the story had me hooked - I didn't stop reading until the book was over. I was DYING to know what would happen... I loved this entire trilogy. I'm not a big reader of high fantasy, but this is some of the most accessible and quick-reading fantasy out there. Larson knows how to bring the adventure, romance, and intrigue without bogging down her stories with too much world-building and minute descriptive detail. I love how Alexa has grown throughout this trilogy and this final book is a fitting and satisfying conclusion to an excellent series. I look forward to more from this author.

I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book. Ever since I read the first book in the trilogy, DEFY, I've been waiting on bated breath for ENDURE. And that cover! So pretty! Sara B. Larson writes with beautiful, concise imagery that leaves me wanting to know more about her world and characters. You don't want to miss this heart-pounding conclusion of sorcery and love with a heroine that proves girls can accomplish great things. Kudos to the author on the completion of a masterful YA fantasy trilogy! I can't wait to read what Larson writes next.

3 stars. Why? Because the storyline sure made us finish reading the entire series LOL. Yes, Alexa is quite annoying, and the girl is quite good at crying. I don't really like her, but, I will give her credit for being brave and for always trying--throwing herself out there (even though she gets people killed all the time with her decisions.) I love King Damian! I mean, who wouldn't go for the KING! Which by the way, Damian totally reminds me of Dorian (Book Throne of Glass series). I also love Rylan, even though they killed him off at the end.
