The 2015 Baltasar Kormákur-directed adventure docudrama Everest features a symphonic score by Academy Award-winning composer Dario Marianelli (Atonement, Anna Karenina). Instrumentation that also includes atmospheric female vocals and piano highlights strings, percussion, and brass ("First Trek: Base Camp," "Someone Loves Us") for a soundtrack that's alternately warm, tense, clattering, and majestic. Traditional instruments of South Asia also appear in the film's music, such as on the haunting "Arriving at the Temple," performed by the Monks of Tharig Monastery.
