"A must-read for anyone curious about life and love behind the scenes."—Bella Thorne, actor and author of Autumn Falls

When Paige Townsen gets plucked from high school obscurity to star in the movie adaptation of a blockbuster book series, her life changes practically overnight. Within a month, Paige has traded the quiet streets of her hometown for a bustling film set on the shores of Maui, and she is spending quality time with her costar Rainer Devon, one of People's Sexiest Men Alive. But when troubled star Jordan Wilder lands the role of the other point in the movie's famous love triangle, Paige's crazy new life begins to resemble her character's.

In this exciting tale of romance and drama, both on-and offscreen, Paige must adjust to a crazy new life without the daily support of her friends and family, while figuring out who she is—and who she wants—as the whole world watches.

Ok, confession time. Famous in Love is my first Rebecca Serle book. Now that I’ve fallen in love with her writing and characters, I am kicking myself for waiting this long to discover her work. I’ll be devouring her backlist ASAP. Now that I have my confession out of the way, I’ll get started on my review. :) Famous in Love was so flipping good. I had high hopes for this book and have been excited for it since I picked up a copy at BEA. I wasn’t disappointed. It sucked me in from the prologue because I just HAD TO KNOW which guy she was talking about. I thought I was just in for a good YA romance, but the truth is, Famous in Love was so much more than that. It was about friendship, life and love. It showed how your choices affect your life in ways you might not have even thought possible. This was a great coming of age story. I loved Paige. Even though she was a movie star, she was relatable, real and likable. She was struggling with her newfound fame and all that comes with it. I think that’s what made her so likable to me. She didn’t let it all go to her head. Perhaps her biggest struggle at the beginning is fighting her feelings for her co-star, Rainer. They’re growing close during filming and he has her back off-camera, too. Things get more complicated when their other co-star, bad boy Jordan Wilder, shows up on set. Rainer and Jordan used to be friends, but are now locked in a feud over something that happened the last time they worked together. Paige, of course, gets sucked into it all and tries not to like Jordan because of her loyalty to Rainer. Tries is the key word here. From the minute Jordan stepped foot on set, it was obvious there was a whole lot of chemistry between him and Paige. The more she tried to deny it, the more apparent it was. She *shouldn’t* like this guy, but there’s something about him that draws her to him. Things get even more complicated after they share a steamy on-screen kiss. Now Paige has a decision to make… which guy is the one for her? I’m not usually a huge fan of love triangles, but this one worked so well for me. Paige seemed to fit so well with both guys and I can understand why she was torn between them. I couldn’t even decide on a team for myself. I definitely wouldn’t have wanted to be in her shoes! Now, I’m not going to tell you who she chooses. You have to experience the whole ride for yourself. What I will say is that I didn’t LOVE how the book ended, but only because I originally thought this was a standalone. Now that I’ve learned it’s part of a series, I’m more than ok with it and really can’t wait to get my hands on the next book! There’s definitely more story left between Paige, Rainer and Jordan. I can’t wait to see what happens next. I received a copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

I tried. Really hard. I am sure that a large part of why I did not connect with this book was because I prefer the show. It has terrible acting and awkward writing, but the characters and storyline are better. This feels rushed and like it is the first draft or outline. None of the characters feel finished or consistent. Didn't hate it, but definitely did not love it. Unlikely to read another book by Serle.

Can't say enough good things about this book! I was worried from the description and age info that it was going to be too teenybopper-ey but it wasn't at all. Loved the story and characters, can't wait to read the rest of this series!

When I first picked up this book I noticed the cover. It is just so beautiful. It is simple yet very stunning.  This story is just very well written. Very touching and sweet. Very easy to read. I enjoyed the characters immensely. My favorite was Rainer and Paige. Rainer throughout the whole story was so sweet. He never really got upset like alot of books characters. I LOVE how Paige started out an ordinary highschool girl. Who turned into an actress.  I also LOVE when books get turned to movies. I like how the author turned a story within a story into a movie. If that makes sense. This author did that. It was so easy to read. And just amazing to read. I kind of want to read the story Locked now. Everybody in this story loved the trilogy.  I really just loved this whole story. Now that I think about the characters of this story it makes me want to read it again. It is so fast paced, such a fun story to read. I cannot wait to read some more stories this author wrote. This one was just so amazing.

"I can't touch him. The only thing I want to do is run to him and have him put his arms around me, to take me someplace that isn't here. Someplace it's just the two of us and none of this matters. But I can't do that because no one knows. Not Wyatt and not Sandy, not even Cassandra. They think we're just friends--that I belong to someone else. They don't know that I've made a huge mistake. They don't know that, like August, I chose wrong." Seventeen-year-old Paige Townsen never expected her audition to for the coveted part of August to come to anything. She never thought she'd be the only unknown picked to star in the next big blockbuster when the bestselling book Locked was adapted for the big screen. Except that's exactly what happens and suddenly instead of starring in community theater productions and high school shorts, Paige is at the center of a major production. Her co-star, Rainer Devon, is right at Paige's side helping her make sense of her sudden fame and the rigors that come from movie production. When troubled actor Jordan Wilder is cast as the final piece in the love triangle at the center of the film, Paige's life begins to uncomfortably imitate art as she is torn between these two very different young men. With everything changing, Paige will have to figure out who she is before she can begin to choose who she wants in Famous in Love (2014) by Rebecca Serle. Famous in Love is the first book in a trilogy. The "book-within-the-book" Locked is also slated for a tie-in publication. Serle draws inspiration from real life celebrity drama to create this story of fame and romance. Readers will be with Paige from the start when she first hears about the audition right through to the post-production of the first film. While Paige vacillates between Rainer and Jordan throughout the book, both relationships feel authentic and offer very different things for Paige. Although Paige's friends and family often feel like one-note characters, they are happily present showing that Paige had a life before getting famous and will have support for whatever pitfalls Hollywood may have in store. Being the first in a trilogy, readers can expect a lot more love-triangle based drama as Paige is forced to choose both on-screen and off. Famous in Love is an all-access pass to what happens off camera and behind the curtains of a movie production. Sure to appeal to hopeless romantics, celebrity junkies and movie fans alike. Possible Pairings: Behind the Scenes by Dahlia Adler, Now & Forever by Susane Colasanti, Not in the Script by Amy Finnegan, A Little Something Different by Sandy Hall, Open Road Summer by Emery Lord, Since You've Been Gone by Morgan Matson *A copy of this book was required for review consideration from the publisher at BEA 2014*

Famous in Love was a definite roller coaster. Overall I really enjoyed it but I was so frustrated with the ending. I NEED a sequel. Backtracking a bit, I initially picked up Famous in Love for its premise.. an average girl gets picked to be the next Jennifer Lawrence (The main lead in a huge book trilogy turned into movie chain). Paige was very down to earth and also very awestruck by the life she currently leads. Most of the book is set during her filming the first movie with Rainer and late comer, Jordan. Yes, there is a love triangle, but it is very different from what I usually expect of YA books.I loved the setup in the book. Hawaii. Ah, I would love to travel there. The scenery is beautiful, the way it is described.. the beach, the ocean, the trees, and the mountains (volcanic?). Some scenes were so serene.. especially in the early hours of the morning when Paige would go swimming. However, Paige's life is so hectic, she's insecure in her acting, especially compared to Rainer (think the lovely Dylan O'Brien now). I loved Paige and Rainer's friendship initially and its slow progression to something more. However all the problems start with Jordan's arrival. Jordan is a typical bad boy and I really didn't like him. I felt that Paige fell into inta-lust with him, and not the good kind. The whole time I was like "RAINER! RAINEEEEER IS RIGHT HERE! WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?". While I wasn't a huge fan of the romance conflict, I still liked everything else about the book, including Paige and her struggles with the acting and just everything else that has drastically changed in her life. The ending though? it was a killer. I totally didn't expect it. Famous in Love is one of the few contemporary books that I read and can't seem to read fast enough to know what happens next. I truly was flipping the pages frantically wanting to know the end result and wow, Serle really pulled one on us. I need a sequel. Please Serle and Poppy, make it happen. Sincerely, a desperate fan.

Receiving my copy via a Goodreads giveaway, FAMOUS IN LOVE will speak to those teens (females, in particular) who obsess over movies such as "Twilight" and fan magazines. While the author captured the true "voice" of her 17-year-old heroine (Paige), her male characters felt a little less well defined, particularly Jordan. All in all, it was a quick, entertaining read.
