I've read all of Mr Coben's books and had been anxiously awaiting the release of this one. While it started well and moved at his typically breakneck pace, for me it fell flat at the end. Actually, it fell on its face. I don't require a happy ending, but I prefer to not despise all of the characters when I finish a book.

Only on page 35 and wondering if he actually wrote it.....hoping as I progress in book the story line and plot pick up. This may be the first of his books I skip through to the end.

Could not put this new one usual for all this author's books. He only gets better. I have read most of his books and he ceases to amaze. Until the next book comes out I will finally get my 8 hours of sleep per night!

Love this author. He doesn't disappoint with this story either. Some nice twists and turns. Do have to say the ending is sad but good anyway. Would recommend.

This book started off really good. The further it unfolded, the plot was confusing and weak and it had little character development. In the end, I wish I had my time and money back.

Perhaps the idea was to submerge the reader in the frenetic, disjointed thought processes of someone suffering from PTSD or other issues, but... It just seemed confusing and jumbled, the "twist" ending thrown together.

A lot of unlikeable characters including the lead. A contrived story with a twist ending that is unsatisfying.

I wish the main character was a man- it was a good story but too pro women can do anything - as a woman it was not realistic Good plot would be higher rated except for the woman thing

This is Coben's most disappointing effort in a long while. He needs to take more time and care with the next one or I, for one will not be continuing as a reader. The storyline is jumpy, ill-developed and sloppy. He is better than this. It seems to be a recent general pattern with the suspense genre writers to be cranking out less quality work with more frequent regularity, perhaps opting for the quick buck and not paying as much attention to their craft. Maybe they're losing their creative edge, but I sure hope that is not the case for the long haul. Come on Harlan, give us a better one next time!

First Coben book I've read a quite awhile. He hasn't lost his touch. This is a murder mystery that you just can't put down. From start to finish you will be on the edge of your seat. Highly recommend it along with all of Coben's work !

Maya is a former special ops pilot. She was forced to retire from the military when a video of a botched mission killing civilians was released on a whistle blower sight. She has not lived a happy life in the last few years. Her sister was murdered, her career is in a shambles, she suffers from PTSD and the final blow is her husband is also murdered. When Maya sees her husband on her nanny cam, things start to happen fast and furious. I could not put the book down. Maya begins to investigate the murder of her sister, is it tied in to the murder of her husband? Her two year old daughter, Lily, is the one thing that is grounding her at this time. Her friends, Shane and Eileen, try to help but she won't let them. She can't risk anyone else getting hurt. Is death following her, as her brother-in-law said. This is a taut thriller that will hook you and keep you reading. I wanted to find out who killed Joe and Clare as much as Maya did. The characters were well rounded from her friends to her immediate relatives. The only ones that were not really fleshed out were Joe's family, the Burketts but that did not harm the story in any way. Another Coben book that I had no clue about the ending until it came. Just what I expect from a thriller. I am glad I read this one, I almost missed it. I recommend it to Coben lovers as well as anyone who loves a suspenseful thriller. 4.5 stars for me.
