Overview

Mary Shelley’s tragic story of a scientist who created a monster is perhaps even more compelling and meaningful today than when it was written nearly two centuries ago. From the bits and pieces of dead bodies, and the power of electricity, the brilliant Victor Frankenstein fashions a new form of life—only to discover, too late, the irreparable damage he has caused.

Very good way to get the young ones interested in the classics. Love the original and love this one. Must read more in this series.

This had an amazing plot Victor tells about his life and this Monster that he had created. He was horrified by what he had made, and regrets it. I do not want to spoil it but it has a good plot and you won't want to stop reading.

My son who is 9 had a hard time finishing any of the books I bought him until I decided to purchase a classic starts book. Frankenstein was the first, Dracula was the second. He loved them! It blew his mind that a scientist would take other people's body parts and assemble like legos to make a monster. My son even felt empathy for "the monster." As soon as he finished Frankenstein, he asked me to order more classic starts which I promptly did. I guess there is a reason why classics have inspired generations of readers and writers.

My son is seven (7) years old and he LOVED this book. It is a great way to introduce young readers to classic novels. I also think that it would be a good way for teachers to introduce 2nd and 3rd graders to classic novels. I plan on purchasing my son more books from this line. So I encourage those with young readers to purchase this book and other books in this line.
