Lord Andrew Mabry, the second son of the Duke of Greystone, has no desire to marry. As the spare, he has no obligation to provide an heir and he rather enjoys spending his days and nights in play with the demimonde. But more and more of late, he finds himself wanting to play naughty games with the American heiress, Gina Hammersley.

After her scandalous older sister marries a marquess, Gina Hammersley suddenly finds herself the darling of London with beaux a plenty calling on her, sending flowers, and filling her dance cards. Unfortunately, the one she desires most is the one who has no wish to be caught in the marriage trap: Lord Andrew Mabry.

But when they are discovered in a compromising situation, this unlikely pair must decide whether to face scandal or discover if the passion they’ve always felt is strong enough to lead them into love.

About the Author

Lorraine Heath always dreamed of being a writer. After graduating from the University of Texas, she wrote training manuals, press releases, articles, and computer code, but something was always missing. When she read a romance novel, she not only became hooked on the genre, but quickly realized what her writing lacked: rebels, scoundrels, and rogues. She’s been writing about them ever since. Her work has been recognized with numerous industry awards, including RWA’s prestigious RITA®. Her novels have appeared on the USA Today and New York Times bestseller lists.

I liked the book but felt it needed more context. It was to short could have made it a bit longer and developed the plot better. But overall I liked the book.

After a disastrous romance when he was a young man, Andrew Mabry has vowed he will never marry. As the second son, he does not have to provide an heir. But his vow means nothing when he meets American heiress Gina Hammersley. She wants to marry a titled man but the more she is around Andrew, the more she realizes a title does not make the man. Andrew is the man she is determined to marry. She just has to change his mind about marriage. Loved the characters of Gina and Andrew, who are so perfect for each other. Her naughtiness matches his! She always thinks up outrageous things to do and makes him take her to places she should not go. Although the novella is short at only 150 pages, it is a great read.

This story didn't feel like a novella, but like a full novel. The characters were well developed and the story elaborate. Lord Andrew is the spare, and sees no reason to ever marry, while Gina's scandal-ridden older sister has just married Lord Andrew's brother, improving Gina's chances of a happy marriage. A huge dowry doesn't hurt, either. Although Andrew and Gina know they shouldn't have anything to do with each other, the attraction is extremely strong. Gina also wishes for an adventure before accepting one of the boring gentlemen wooing her, and who better to supply it than her pleasure-seeking brother-in-law? Rating is very HOT, just the way I like them. Everything resolves in a satisfying HEA. I recommend this novella highly.

'Gentlemen Prefer Heiresses' by Lorraine Heath is Book 4.5 in The "Scandalous Gentlemen of St. James"' series. This is the story of Lord Andrew Mabry and Gina Hammersley. This book is around 160 pages long. I haven't yet read the previous book, so for me this was a standalone book. Gina is the younger sister to Andrew's new Sister In-Law. Andrew is a fun loving second son of the Duke of Greystone. So he has no responsibility to marry and produce an heir but he does find Gina hard to resist. Gina knows his thoughts on marrying but finds it hard not to have feelings for him. When they are caught in a questionable situation they both have choices to make. "My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read."

I usually like Lorraine Heath, but this was disappointing. The characters were in one of her recent novels and I liked them better in the previous book. They were shallow and silly in this, their own story. The author neglected story and character development for steam. Andrew's rationale for never falling in love was ridiculous, and she was just being incredibly stupid. She could not possibly have thought the crap they were doing wouldn't ruin her.
