The third book in the bestselling Harry Potter series, now illustrated in glorious full color by award-winning artist Jim Kay!

For twelve long years, the dread fortress of Azkaban held an infamous prisoner named Sirius Black. Convicted of killing thirteen people with a single curse, he was said to be the heir apparent to the Dark Lord, Voldemort.

Now he has escaped, leaving only two clues as to where he might be headed: Harry Potter's defeat of You-Know-Who was Black's downfall as well. And the Azkaban guards heard Black muttering in his sleep, "He's at Hogwarts . . . he's at Hogwarts."

Harry Potter isn't safe, not even within the walls of his magical school, surrounded by his friends. Because on top of it all, there may well be a traitor in their midst.

The illustrations in this book are absolutely stunning as with the previous illustrated editions. I think this book has to be one of my favorites in the series. I really love how Voldemort isn't physically in this book, he's only brought up in conversation. I also really love the relationship between Harry and Remus, Remus really is the best Defense Against the Dark Arts Teacher Harry has ever had. Remus also gives Harry a link to his parents that he never had before, which I think is really important. Sirius is another important character in this book, as Sirius is revealed to be Harry's godfather and another link to Harry's parents. Things are also revealed about the night that Harry's Parents died.

Absolutely beautiful! This illustrated version is so colorful, and really brings the book to life. I do wish, however, that the whole book was illustrated instead of having to see text as well, but I understand that that is a difficult job. Nevertheless, amazing!

I read each of the Harry Potter books to my son's at bedtime as they came out until I lost my voice. When I heard that they were being illustrated I immediately placed my preorder for the first one and started adding them to my Harry Potter book collection. They are much taller and wider than the original books and its fun flipping through the pages looking at the illustrations to see if they match what we envisioned each person, place and thing looked like as we read. Its kind of fun to see how close they match to each person, place and thing in the movies as well. Thank you J.K. Rowling for writing the Harry Potter series. We never grow tired of the watching the movies over and over, nor listening to the unabridged Cd's., and audio books.
