this trilogy is the best written trilogy on dragons i have ever read.the fact that she included politics and and a sense of law made the stories and the idea of dragons more believeable and real. i wish this trilogy never ended and love reading them over and over again.

An alright book, but I missed the whole Jakkin and Akki love thing. When did that happen? Over my head, I guess. Very cute baby dragons.

Jane Yolen has hit a home run with her Pit Dragon Series. Once you read the first, the second and third can't be put down. I read them in 7th grade, and again this week(I'm now 25) and still can't get enough.

Jane Yolen has written a great book. I just love how the dragons comunicate using colored thoughts. I also like how she uses the womb to give jakkin and akki new life.

This book is definetely more sci-fi then the last book, which was more of a fantasy book, but its still really really good. The third book definetly looks promising... especially the end because it get's way 'out-there'...

Jane Yolen has done it again. She has produced a spectacular novel that furthers the Dragon Pit Trilogy. She has taken the very roots of dragon lore itself and used them in a most imaginative way that is a great story for anyone. The Book itself is about the continuation of Jakkin's adventures in which he encounters his long lost friend and takes on a daring quest that could save Austar IV itself. I recommend this book to ages 10+.

The book, 'Heart's Blood' by Jane Yolen, is a marvoleous book. Most is about politics, but the book is very moving. Jakkins sortof love, Akki, disappears when she is spying on the Rebels. Jakkins dragon, Heart's Blood, has just had hatchlings. With Heart's Blood booked up for fights and Jakkin trying to find Akki, they are in a very tight mess. The ending is the saddest, and the most moving ending I have ever read. I rate this book five stars, because it is wonderful, but also because Jane Yolen describes it beautifully, and doesnt miss a bit. I highly recommend reading this book.

This is the second book in the Pit Dragon trilogy set in a future world beyond Earth. In this novel the main character, master and ex-bonder Jakkin, leaves his dragon and her hatchlings to help his love interest Akki.Generally a good way to spend an afternoon. I would recommend to anyone interested in this genre because the characters and the world the author created are well written, but it is mainly a young adult novel and that needs to be kept in mind when reading.

In this second book of the Pit Dragons trilogy (although now there are four, so I suppose it's not really), we find Jakken a successful dragon trainer, free from bond and moving swiftly upward in the world. We also find that Austar IV is a politically complicated place, and a potentially dangerous one. This book gears up the political plots that carry through the rest of the volumes, and is, to me, the only one that manages it successful. It revolves around a group of rebels Akki has fallen in with and Jakken's desperation to save her, while still maintaining a firm foot in the Pit Dragon culture I loved in the first book. There is still a strong thread of coming-of-age (Jakken flat out asks himself if he's a man yet - and what that means) and some wonderful notes of personal loyalty and personal responsibility. The ending is heart-breaking. Worth a read.

This book, like everything else Jane Yolen writes, is far more thought-provoking than I could hope to convey in a simple plot summary. I'll say only that, while the first book is nothing I haven't seen before, this one is quite original. One never gets the impression that Yolen put a lot of time into building the world of Austar IV- it just seems to exist naturally on the page. At times, it's a little too natural- she scorns infodumping to the point where I was sometimes left confused about the details of Jakkin's culture.
