There is a debate in the medical and scientific community that questions if sugar is addictive. This question may never be

definitively answered, however, there are a few facts we need to consider about sugar consumption and its consequences to make

an informed decision about the sugar question. Sugar has and addictive effect in the human brain and because it is in so many

things that we don’t even recognize; ketchup, marinades, breads, sauces, and even toothpaste, it requires serious effort to

reduce or eliminate sugar intake. The average American eats about 22 heaping teaspoons of sugar per day, while the American

Heart Association recommends that women and men have no more than 6.5 and 9.5 teaspoons of added sugar respectively. Sugar

consumption has been linked to obesity, diabetes, heart disease, cancer liver disease and much more. There are people who are

sugar sensitive and most do not know it so how can we separate the sugar addicts from the sugar sensitive when most of us eat

too much sugar in the first place? So basically nearly everyone needs to reduce or eliminate sugar to be healthier.
