The story has a good beginning and is authentic for a while. There then begins nonsense of events and a ridiculous ending. I am convinced that this writer did not read his own work or he would have seen the flaws. I am disappointed in the story from the time of the fire at the Inn until the story concludes. This seems to be a pattern in mystery writers these days. A rush to end the story and pure nonsense reason for murder.

Tim Myers is a refreshing new voice in the Mystery genre. Innkeeping With Murder, the first book in a new series for Myers, takes place in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, at the Hatteras West Inn and Lighthouse (you¿ll have to read the book to find out what a lighthouse is doing in the mountains!). Residents and those who can identify with the area will thoroughly enjoy the familiarity of his descriptions throughout the book. Alex Winston, the owner of the Inn, is faced with a dilemma when one of his guests has been found murdered. A series of ¿accidents¿ then begin to play havoc on the peaceful serenity of the Hatteras West Inn. Meanwhile, the killer is still on the loose. What has made Innkeeping With Murder so appealing to booklovers is his approach to writing- he completely shies away from descriptive shock-gore, and in-depth forensic science techniques that some readers find tiresome. He instead puts the focus into character interaction and plot twists, and Innkeeping With Murder becomes a delightful, fast-paced, ¿who done it.¿ I think his approach is right on target, appealing to a large audience. A truly entertaining read, I can¿t wait for the next book to come out!

At the edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Elkton Falls, North Carolina is the Hatteras West Inn and Lighthouse. The reason for the lighthouse, a replica of the more famous one on the coast, is part of the family heritage of current owner Alex Winston. However, Alex has doubts that he can financially survive much longer as innkeeper.

Alex soon has a new problem to face when someone murders long time returning guest and friend Reg Wellington Sr. with an ice pick to the neck at the top of the lighthouse. Adding to Alex¿s woes is that his maid quit though she sends her more competent cousin Elise to replace her. Alex realizes that no one wants to stay at a temporary lodging facility where an unsolved homicide occurs even if several individuals say otherwise. Rather than wait for the Sheriff to solve the case, Alex investigates feeling that the killer might strike again.

INNKEEPING WITH MURDER is an entertaining amateur sleuth tale. The plot works because the key cast seems so authentic they make readers feel that they are visiting the Blue Ridge foothills. The story line is fun as a worried Alex searches for a killer, struggles with avoiding bankruptcy, and begins to fall in love all in one novel. Tim Myers provides the audience with a wonderful regional mystery that will have readers re-booking for future stays at the Hatteras West Inn and Lighthouse.
