About the Author

I grew up in the small town of St. George, South Carolina. Although raised in a house full of girls, three to be exact, girly we were not. Sports and reading were the main activities we enjoyed. My mother was an athletic woman who shared her skill by teaching us how to swim, fish, and play tennis and basketball. Growing up in the slow pace of a small town was conducive to enjoying these pastimes. Another passion my mother possessed was the love of the written word. This ultimately led her to make it her profession, a librarian. She imparted this love of books to my sisters and me.
After college and marriage, I convinced my husband to move back to my home town. What was supposed to be a temporary job with my father at his hardware store developed into over thirty years of being a small town store proprietor. We were fortunate to raise our four children in this environment, which played such an important role in all our lives. "Inside The George" was written originally for my grandchildren. I wanted them to have a glimpse of how their parent's lives were shaped by the customers, employees and the workings of our family business.
My personal interest today are:gardening, college athletics, and spending time with my family.
