Beyond the confines of our small world, far from the glow of our star, lies a galaxy and universe much larger and more varied than anyone on Earth can possibly imagine. For the new NAC spacecraft Odyssey and her crew, the unimaginable facets of this untouched world are about to become reality.

The Odyssey’s maiden voyage is an epic adventure destined to make history. Captain Eric Weston and his crew, pushing past the boundaries of security, encounter horrors, wonders, monsters, and people, all of which will test their resolve, challenge their abilities, and put in sharp relief what is necessary to be a hero.

A first-rate military science fiction epic that combines old-school space opera and modern storytelling, Into the Black: Odyssey One is a riveting, exhilarating adventure with vivid details, rich mythology, and relentless pacing that will leave you breathlessly awaiting book two.

Very good read. Hard to put down. Major logic flaw, aliens have weapon that immobilizes all the earth crew members. They are only saved by a suicide mission. The aliens never use the weapon again?????!!!!!

Very good science fiction.  Good enough that I bought book 2 in the series as well.

What a fantastic book. I loved it! In fact, halfway through, I stopped reading just long enough to email a friend and tell him to buy it immediately. He took my advice and actually finished before me and ordered the next book. Likeable characters, innovative technology concepts and a riveting storyline. Buy this book - you won't be disappointed!

Did anyone even proof read this story? I'm not talking about grammar. Things suddenly happen without knowing where they came from. Conversations start in the middle. I quit on at page 134.

I read this on a work trip, and it kept me in my hotel one free morning instead of exploring Frankfurt. This is solid, well written space opera with reasonably solid characters and plenty of great action. The overall themes are not new: Earth's first spaceship, exploring space, caught up in an alien war... very similar to John Ringo or David Weber. The book is filled with slick executions of stock concepts of future technology (FTL, space fighters, powered combat armor) and well executed homages to many classic books in the genre (On the bounce soldier!). This book is not hard science fiction, there is a lot of handwavium and 'humans are inherently better (and more warlike) than everybody else so we win despite their improved technology'... but, you know, I love these tropes and they keep me reading this stuff. Pleasant read overall, and I am looking forward to the next one!

A very good read with the right mix of action, tech, and charater development. I look forward to other stories from this author!
