Although it took more than a year of concerts and promotional appearances, Michael Bublé's 2003 debut disc of swinging pop standards finally ascended the Billboard album chart and landed at number 47. That peak may not seem impressive at first, but in a musical world dominated by rap or the latest flavor of alternative rock, Bublé's upper chart appearance was a real accomplishment and it sparked a renewed interest in music associated with great vocalists like Frank Sinatra. With his second studio disc, It's Time, Bublé builds upon the musical foundation he laid with his debut and demonstrates that he is much more than a flavor-of-the-month celebrity. Like his debut, It's Time mines the rich history of pop music as Bublé applies his own technique to classic standards and incorporates his Rat Pack sound into modern pop songs. Other pop vocal giants have made attempts to reinterpret the pop songs of their day with appalling results (Mel Tormé's version of "Sunshine Superman" comes to mind), but Bublé has the knack for selecting the right songs that he can properly transform into edible works that avoid a cheesy aftertaste. Having a standard like "A Foggy Day (In London Town)" share space with the Beatles' "Can't Buy Me Love" may seem like a lounge lizard joke waiting to happen, but the arrangements (most courtesy of producer David Foster) and performances are seamless. Therefore, the quiet groove of "I've Got You Under My Skin" can sit comfortable next to Bublé's smoky version of Leon Russell's "Song for You," featuring Chris Botti on trumpet. Perhaps it is due to this formula working so well that Bublé has incorporated more of his unique takes on modern pop than on his debut. He even ventures into R&B territory with older hits like "Try a Little Tenderness" and "How Sweet It Is," all the while giving these songs a retro freshness that breathes new life into these gems. Pop starlet Nelly Furtado sounds lovely and elegant in the duet "Quando, Quando, Quando," while Bublé ends the disc with a beautiful reading of Stevie Wonder's "You and I." Another positive step forward is the inclusion of the lovely original tune "Home," a somewhat autobiographical "too long on the road" song co-written by Bublé. The success of this ballad provides yet another direction that he can explore and expand upon. Throughout the disc Bublé emits the feeling that he loves these songs and truly enjoys what he is doing. He sounds pure of voice and pure of heart. Those are rare commodities in the recorded world and they, along with Bublé's talent and vision, help to make It's Time a wonderful listening experience.

I never wrote a review before, never wanted to----yet this album deserves to be written about....it's just great. While all of the songs, other than his own touching tune 'Home', are previously recorded songs, Buble's versions just grow on you in a such a different way than the originals. His voice is just so soothing...this album quite addictive...I think I've listened to it fifty times in the last week.
Michael Buble sings a combination of music on this cd. His version of country, pop to old fashioned big band music is just short of epic. The bad thing is that he is not played on the radio as he should be. If you like crooners then this cd is the one for you.
I've always been reluctant to buy cds as I'm usually bored out of my mind with probably half of the songs. This CD though has blown that outta the water- it's awesome! I can listen to the entire CD and I've even caught myself serenading coworkers with Quando, quando, quando and also A Foggy Day (in London Town.) It makes them laugh- but I've even received some applause. :) I can't get enough of this guy- plus he's quite attractive! ) (so it's a double bonus for me!) :) Buy it, it's romantic, has a lot of energy and his voice can just sooth away stress from a hectic days work. -Ashley
Wow - what magical interpretation and style, not to mention his voice. Loved all the tracks, but not sure about his interpretation of the Beatles hit. My favourites were You Don't Know Me, You And I, Song For You (all so romantic), Quando Quando Quando (with Nelly Furtado, so sweet, so sexy, so elegant), Home. I can listen to him all day. Now I know why he's so popular. Even my 16 yr old teenage daughter likes him! We now like swing. I've also bought his earlier CDs. I also went and bought a Sinatra CD for comparison and found there could only be one Sinatra in so far as The Voice is concerned! Still Buble has the talent to bring his own freshness to some of Sinatra's classics.
The first time I listened to Buble's music was a year ago, on a warm night. I had the window to my room open, fresh air comming in. And then all of a sudden, I hear his voice out of my radio. The song was "Home." His voice was really like the fresh air comming in and out of my room. I fell in love with his voice. That week, I went and bought his CD - the first time I have ever bought a CD or have ever wanted it so badly. He really has one of the most beautiful voices. His voice easily touches hearts. He is so young, but his voice tells another story.
I can't say enough good things about Michael Buble's latest CD. It touches me in so many ways. His voice range and the depth that it comes from are almost overwhelming. It's clear Buble' feels this music. I have to sing along with every song. It's in my car and I play it over and over and over. I can't wait for his next release.
Best Cd I have bought in years, every song is great.
When I discovered Michael a few years ago it was the first time in years that I enjoyed someone's music enough to buy a CD. This latest CD is as wonderful as his first. I've seen him in person three times, and loved every minute of it. Charlotte Saugus, MA
I love every song and listen to it all the time in my car!
I just discovered this great voice - the performance was amazing. A Song for You in this new arrangement was great. But wait until you hear him perform Save the Last Dance for Me. I felt he really capture the engery of the song. Home is so moving that I just wanted to play it over & over again. Michael Buble is here to stay.
I first heard the hit song "Home" on a local radio station and it was spliced with well wishes of military families saying how much they missed their loved ones, which naturally got me hooked, but you can hear it in his voice that he desperately misses home and conveys it in a way that is extraordinary. It made me a fan!
This is one of his previous CD's but one of my favorite. His voice is rich and the orchestration is outstanding. I gave it as a gift to my friend and I know she'll enjoy it over and over.
Obviously I'm in the minority, but I hated this CD. Loved his first one - almost wore it out. This one is dreadful - there should be an exception to the "no return if opened" rule. I thought the song choices were poor --especially the sophomoric "Quando" ditty that sounded like a junior-high talent audition. (Nelly Furtado? Michael, what were you thinking?) The other reviews of this CD were much more eloquent, and the reviewers seem much more "music-knowledgeable" - so apparently it's just me. But this reviewer was very disappointed.
Love the music; love the voice; love the sound
Just like Frank Sinatra, Michael Buble brings some of your memorable classics to life again. He spices it up and puts his own style to the song.
He should really be considered one of the best vocalists of all time, in a boat with Sinatra and Elvis. This CD really highlights his range by performing Beatles tunes and Stevie Wonder songs while changing them but for the better, which few people have ever done.
It's Time is one of the best albums I have come across in a while. Buble's smooth voice and sultry lyrics are fantastic. "Home" and "Quando, Quando, Quando" are beautiful! As well as all of the other tracks! :) Great buy for Valentine's Day
I have never bothered to write reviews, but i just had to for this CD after reading how much people enjoy Michael's latest album. I have been waiting for this CD to come out for one year now. I was anxious to see in which direction Michael was going to take his next project, and i am so proud of how adventurous he was on this CD. He is so much more comfortable on this CD. He knows on which songs to caress the notes and words, and on which to swing. Every song is sung as it should be. Feelin'Good is sultry yet screams confidence. Foggy Day is swinging and michael is singing the story. You don't know me is heart felt and the arrangement is bluesy and smokey. Quando--Michael wanted this to be elegant and romantic, and that is EXACTLY what it is--very classy song. Home--his voice is oh so pure on this song, it takes my breath away. Can't buy me love is so jazzy and swingin, and michael's voice sounds unique on this song. The more i see you and how sweet are great updates and make the album spicy and hot; Song for you and You and I are absolutely my favorite tracks. His voice and the arrangements do moving and wonderous things to these songs. You can see him singing these songs to his sweetheart. Dream a little Dream (he whistles the notes in the bridge!) and Mack are fantastic. IT is unfair to compare Michael to Sinatra and to say he is a copycat, or cashing in the money. There will never be another sinatra. Many of the standards he sings have been sung many times by the greats, so why all of a sudden attack him for singing beautiful songs. Some of the greatest singers didn't write their songs either, they were interpreters as Michael is. IT was first listening to Michael that i discovered the world of jazz/swing, and went out to find out about those singers whom MIchael loves so much. Great thing about Michael's voice and choice of songs: His voice is so charismatic and has so much character, i find myself listening to the CD's over and over to catch all the little traits in his voice. Wonderful CD, didn't expect anything less from michael.
yeah, i agree. with all the annoying music its good to hear someone so young take on major hits. he's my all-time fave singer. He totally reminds me of Sinatra with Feeling Good. Honestly, I've never heard of him until a few years ago and heard his voice but it really reminded me of Sinatra...seriously! I was watching a special on him. My fave songs are Feeling Good and Home, which I fell in love with instantly but I didn't know it was him who made it. Love him to death!I'll probably buy every CD he has out.
I love this CD! Michael has such a wonderful voice and all of the songs were amazing. My favorite is probably "You and I" because it feels like he is singing just to me! Anyone who likes romantic, jazz music should get this CD, Michael Buble is certainly swoon-worthy!
This CD is absolutley AMAZING. When I saw Michael on Connan O'Brian I knew I had to have more. I finally bought the CD and its been the only one in my CD player for the last 2 months! "Feelin' Good" is a really unique sounding song and makes me want to get up and dance and "Home" is such a smooth, relaxing song. "Song for You" is my favorite though, because it is so romantic. I wish someone would sing me a song like that:) Overall the sound of Michael is totally unique and different from everything out right now...Take a listen and you'll know what I mean!!!!
I really like the songs i just listened to on the internet. He is a very strong vocalist and his song Home is starting to play on the radio and it really hit hard for me. Its a very nice song and its a great album. I would purchase it
Never listened to him before...even passed up concert tickets. What a mistake! His passion, kindness and charisma come through in his music. I'm hooked.
