Mark, a self-concerned aspiring writer, slips from relationship to relationship, sinking deeper into a cocoon of isolation from others. Saved from a watery death by the selfless act of a stranger, Mark strives to be more like that heroic man, but, lacking genuine foundations of courage, descends into a world of outward success and inner corruption. In an explosive instant at the crossroads of truth and deception, a final act of exaggerated self-importance reveals the darkest secret of Mark's troubled past.

".. beautiful narrative that surpasses James Joyce in clarity and hunger." - C. Wigtil

"[Jackson's] work shows a ruthless and critical eye and artistic judgment at work--with resulting powerful effects. [...] [He] is particularly adept at conveying the strongly altered and slippery nature of a person's conception of Time during periods of psychological upheaval." - Drop the Buddha
