Overview

Four travelers meet in Bolivia and set off into the heart of the Amazon rainforest, but what begins as a dream adventure quickly deteriorates into a dangerous nightmare, and after weeks of wandering in the dense undergrowth, the four backpackers split up into two groups. But when a terrible rafting accident separates him from his partner, Yossi is forced to survive for weeks alone against one of the wildest backdrops on the planet. Stranded without a knife, map, or survival training, he must improvise shelter and forage for wild fruit to survive. As his feet begin to rot during raging storms, as he loses all sense of direction, and as he begins to lose all hope, he wonders whether he will make it out of the jungle alive.

The basis of an upcoming motion picture starring Daniel Radcliffe, Jungle is the story of friendship and the teachings of nature, and a terrifying true account that you won’t be able to put down.

This is an interesting adventure book. The writing is plain, unadorned, and not elegant but sense of being there in the first person really comes across without being maudlin. There is a little gratuitous writing of extraneous things; kept to a minimum. As an adventure or survival book vs. the others I've read, it does seem somehow local or unpolished, but the adventures are so heartfelt and scary. The story is about a young man who wants to do some hiking or bushwhacking in South America. Clearly he sees the beauty of the scenery. He also takes a lot of time (perhaps too much) to lay out the group dynamics of the various people he teams up with/goes along with along his journey. While not tedious, it reminds the outdoors-person the cutting and clear ups and downs of dealing with people you have not known for a long time, and being with them making joint travel decisions or even being in life threatening situations with them. The survival part - when the man was in the jungle alone for like 17 days with a cigarette lighter and no knife - is awesome. I would recommend the book - just be ready that at times it's like reading someone's unedited personal journal.

Well, it certainly kept me awake. I couldn't put it down. A true story beyond belief. I can't believe he survived but I'm very glad they both did. A really exciting adventure to say the least.

Jungle is the story of how four men walked into the Amazon Jungle and only two were able to come out alive or so we think. As the story starts, we are introduced to a young Israeli named Yossi who then joins up with three other men to go deep into the Amazon Jungle. You think what could go wrong since they are young, healthy men with a guide who seems to know where everything is but not all is what it seems for this group. It takes the four of them to split off to two teams for things to start getting bad and then, Yossi is left to fend for himself after a really bad rafting accident. With Yossi left with basically nothing to fend for himself deep within the Jungle, it takes a miracle for him to be found and it's then that he discovers that not everyone in the group is who they say they are in a stunning conclusion to this heart-racing adventure. Just reading this book alone will make your heart race for what is happening within the pages! This book will make you drop everything to finish reading it just to see if Yossi and the others make it out okay. I do have to admit that there were times that I just wanted to throw the book against the wall for what was happening with the guide that claimed that he knew everything. But for someone to make it without much of anything through the Jungle for nearly three weeks, is pretty amazing in my book. Doing what Yossi had to do in order to survive, I probably wouldn't make it as far as he did just for my fear of snakes! After reading this book, I so can't wait to watch the movie just to see everything play out on a big screen!! Thank You to Yossi Ghinsberg for sharing your story of your adventure in the Amazon Jungle! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from RockStar Book Tours!

It very sad that this is based on a real story. I can't imagine having to go through any of the things he did. I knew that there had to be a happy ending though. Otherwise he would not be alive to write the story. LOL

I'm not usually into reading, but once I started reading this book, I couldn't put it down, and finished it on the same night I started. It was filled with adventure, and was a great book.

this book was wonderful! Yossi, who's incredible story was featured on I Shouldn't be Alive of the Discovery Channel, proved his will to survive and devotion to his family. Highly recomended.

I recommend this book to anybody who enjoys adventure, though indeed Yossi Ghinsberg was an ordinary young man when he experienced this ordeal. His honesty is refreshing & I found it difficult to stop reading once I'd started. Riveting stuff!

I could not put this book down once I started! Of course the fact that it's all true makes it even more fascinating. The author's courage & will to survive I found intriguing & he writes in a very personal & readable manner. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Apart from being a tremendous tale of human endurance by a seemingly average male, Yossi's writing style allows the reader to climb into his skin and feel it all. I couldn't put Jungle down once I started. One of the best true stories I have ever read.

This book has had a very positive effect on me & I expect most who read it. It had me so curious to find out what happened, I found it hard to put down. Mr Ghinsberg, through his survival experience, explores a wide variety of human situations & emotions & though he was young at the time, displays insight far beyond his years. Highly recommended.

reading this book i felt as though yossi ghinsberg had dropped me in the middle of the jungle with him, right next to him.the way he writes you feel as though you are living it.it is so awesome an adventure.thrilling, intense and true.that is what blows me away the most.this guy ,a presumable average guy like me,survived this, well i dont want to spoil it for others but trust me what he survives is remarkable.it makes me want to put on a backpack and see more of the world.jungle is a really great book, one that stopped me doing many things so that i could finish it in one sitting.honestly the best true life story i ever read!

This is one of the most honest & fascinating accounts of real life adventure I've read. Though it's easy to read, the writer also shares deep insights into human nature that I could certainly relate to. I felt I was transported into the very Amazon jungle where the ordeal took place. I have no hesitation in recommending this book - it's stayed with me for a long time afterwards.

This enthralling story had me turning the pages far into the night ¿ how would Yossi survive in the Amazon jungle now that he was alone? A spellbinding tale all the more remarkable because it is true ¿ Yossi¿s indomitable spirit & will to survive against huge odds left me in awe of this amazing man. A truly inspirational read!

Though simply written this book grips you from its first chapter and doesn¿t let go until the last page. I had to stay up all night since it was impossible to put it down. I was even worrying - would the author live to tell? But once I was done with the book it kept growing on me - there are great life changing messages in this story of losing all and finding self. I highly recommend it.
