The Justice Society of America is DC¿s way of explaining the older superheroes from the 1940¿s and how they fit in the DC Universe of today. Their ranks include the original Flash, Green Lantern and Hawkman as well as Wildcat, a tough ex-boxer who never seems to die and Powergirl, whose origins have changed many times. The story is about the reformation of the team as an outcome of Infinite Crisis, a major restructuring of the DC world. It is a tradition to recruit new members from relatives of past JSA team mates. They bring in three young new recruits who all have issues to work through. At the same time someone is targeting the families of the superheroes to stop them from becoming new members. The story is engaging and well written and the art work is great. I will definitely look at other graphic novels in this series.
If you like good old superhero fun this book is for you. If you like strong characterization this book is for you. If you are a fan of the long rich legacy of the DC universe this book is for you. Not to mention that the art is clean, crisp, and smooth. I can almost guarantee that you will just enjoy the hell out of this book.
