A New York Times bestselling series
A USA TODAY bestselling series
A California Young Reader Medal–winning series

In this riveting series opener, a telepathic girl must figure out why she is the key to her brand-new world before the wrong person finds the answer first.

Twelve-year-old Sophie has never quite fit into her life. She’s skipped multiple grades and doesn’t really connect with the older kids at school, but she’s not comfortable with her family, either. The reason? Sophie’s a Telepath, someone who can read minds. No one knows her secret—at least, that’s what she thinks…

But the day Sophie meets Fitz, a mysterious (and adorable) boy, she learns she’s not alone. He’s a Telepath too, and it turns out the reason she has never felt at home is that, well…she isn’t. Fitz opens Sophie’s eyes to a shocking truth, and she is forced to leave behind her family for a new life in a place that is vastly different from what she has ever known.

But Sophie still has secrets, and they’re buried deep in her memory for good reason: The answers are dangerous and in high-demand. What is her true identity, and why was she hidden among humans? The truth could mean life or death—and time is running out.

Fantasy in line with Harry Potter and Gregor the Overlander with 12 year old girl as main character, instead of usual boy. My junior high daughters loved it, so I had to read it and found it a fun adventure.

if you have any doubts about getting this book. Dont hesitate! its soooooooooooo AWESOME! i mean its like shes a 12 year old girl thats completely lost and hopeless then this extremely cute boy finds her and kinda shows her who she is. This is a book that should make anyone who has read it proud to have entered this amazing fictional realm. I can think of no fiction books to compare to this amazing read. I strongly recommend this book to lovers of harry potter, septimus heap, and other such books. No book deserves a place on peoples shelf more than this one.

I actually read this book a few months ago and am kicking my self for A) not reading it sooner and B) not getting the review up until now. I don't read too much middle grade and I really need to because there are some great things happening in that corner of the bookstore that I just cannot ignore. When I do read MG I tend to lean towards Fantasy, and so when I heard about Keeper of the Lost Cities I was in. And boy am I glad I picked it up!! I fell in love with both the plot and the characters. Sophie is a great main character, she is both strong but she has just enough insecurity to be relatable. She also reacts to things in a similar way that I would think I would. Even though she is a lot stronger than I would be in her situation. All the secondary characters help bring this world to life. The world that Shannon Messenger has created is so original and beautiful, if I could visit I totally would. And I hate to say this but the whole book had a very Harry Potter vibe. It is completely different but the magic was there like when I read Harry Potter. This is a long book but younger readers should not be afraid because it just flies by, and by the end I was clamoring for the next book!

Shannon Messenger, is, quite simply, a genius. Her world is well thought through and carefully crafted. The characters are very well developed, and the plot is immaculate. All this with high-rising action, a mystery that will leave you gasping for more, and just the right amount of swoon, Shannon Messenger brings one of the best books I've read in a long time.

This book is a great read that you will definitely like if you love to read fantasy and adventure, mixed in with a little reality. This book has lots of stuff any body that is a fan of the following series: Percy Jakson (all series conected to Rick Riordan), Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and any series coherent to one of these topics. Many people will feel sad points in this book and might cry, I did it myself. This is a book that inflicts lots of points of sorrow and lots of adventure. This could be the next Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, who knows, it might have its own lego sets, and/or movies. I am truly exited for the book, and if there are going to be books after that, I will make sure to get them.
