For the preteen and teen who enjoys reading about war, this series will be a welcome addition to a library. Each of the books includes background information about the causes of the war and the cultural divide that caused politics to clash with the common folk.  Explanation is given about the change in mission from keeping North Korea north of the 38th parallel to removing Communists from the entire peninsula; white and color photos help the reader see the reality that is combat. A timeline, map, list of key players, and glossary are included.  As with other titles in this series, additional maps placed throughout the book would help in understanding how troop movements affected the outcome of the war. A solid purchase for beginning researchers.
