Given the degree of success Will Smith has attained in Hollywood, it's easy to forget his humble beginnings as a Philadelphia rapper. And lest anyone think the Fresh Prince hasn't heard the sellout cracks, Lost and Found settles the score for the still quick-witted MC. Look no further than the thumping "Mr. Niceguy," where Big Willie takes Eminem and New York radio personality Wendy Williams to task over a recurring heavy metal riff. Smith also proves he hasn't forsaken his hip-hop roots on the Jazzy Jeffproduced "Here He Comes," which samples the Spider-Man theme, and on the title cut, which dresses down the lack of originality in today's hip-hop scene, over darting strings and a head-bobbing beat. And while the Academy Awardnominated actor will never be mistaken for 50 Cent, he's comfortable enough in his own skin to mockingly point out his lack of street cred on "I Wish I Made That," where he gives props to Dr. Dre, Jay-Z, and Biggie. That said, not every R-rated rapper has distanced himself from Mr. Smith. Surprisingly, Snoop Dogg pops up amid the Jazzy Jeff scratches and jittery beats of "Pump Ya Brakes," and Mary J. Blige lends her gospel-flavored vocals to the solemn "Tell Me Why," which touches on 9/11 and other tragic events. With Lost and Found, Smith proves you don't have to glorify violence, degrade women, or brag about expensive cars and jewelry to make an entertaining rap record.

"Here he comes" Will Smith is back. And this "Mr. Niceguy" has outdone himself. This is probably my favorite album he's done. If you're a Will Smith fan I think you'll agree. Eventhough Will's lyrics are clean, that doesn't mean he can't turn out a hit. And there are many where this record came from. If you don't believe me, check it out for yourself.
he IS a party starter... Great CD... and Party Starter by itself made me want the CD... it is worth it...
“Here He Comes”…Will Smith (my favorite actor/singer)!!! Most of you know him as “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air”. Some of you know him as the guy who played in “Men In Black, I-Robot, or Hitch (his latest film)”. Will Smith got lost in the music business for about three years and he is now FOUND!!! I am a teenager and I recommend all of you, even the young people/ teenagers, to listen/buy this CD! And don’t just listen to it, listen to it and understand it/ the meaning of each song. It is such a good CD (as all of Will's other CD's). Not because he is “famous” or “hot” but because he raps yet talks about topics like 9/11 and teaches GOOD lessons. For example, as he says in his song “Lost and Found”, he doesn't want to be like other rappers. Quick Topics: Will has his own style. He cares for children. Will deserves a BIG congratulation. He is a great role model! He is an all around nice, great, caring, and gentle man. This CD is just like other rap but with out unnecessary profanity. My mom dislikes rap but she LOVES this CD. This CD is devoid of crude language and references to drugs, sex, and violence. It is clean but that doesn’t mean that it is boring/ not “cool”. It has old tunes in it like “Spiderman” and “Humpty Dumpty”. I listened to this CD over and over. This style of rap should be the new fad this whole rap stuff now-a-days is getting old. “Lost and Found” features Mary J. Blige, Snoop Dog, Nicole Scherzinger of the Pussy Cat Dolls, and Robin Thicke. It has good beats, melodies, rhythm, lyrics, and everything else is great about this CD. You will laugh, you will cry, you will dance, even if you don’t know how (all of you that have listened to it should know what I mean), you will play it over and over, and you will LOVE it! This is his BEST CD yet! Get it NOW! My favorite songs are “Lost and Found” and “Tell Me Why”. Quotes from Will Smith: "I guess this is really the first time I made an album that was just totally from my heart," Will Smith admits, "Everything was from an emotional base. Everything was, 'What do I feel about this situation? What did I feel today? What did I experience?' And that was always the spark for the records. Where in the past I would say, let's make a party record. What's not on the radio? Before, I was trying to take an intellectual approach. This time my intellect really just acted as the conduit between my heart and my pen.” "Songs like Lean Back and Drop It Like It's Hot-I love those records," he confesses, "but those kinds of songs don't come out of me." Go to his website (www.willsmith.com) and click on his biography “Will” for more information about the CD. And also print out the lyric book!!! Please buy his CD!!! And thank you to the reviewers and Will's website for helping me write this.
What could I say about this CD. Non other that it's between good and great. It does have some good songs on it I need to say. With today and the entire rap/hiphop music this CD stands out. All of that ganster and shake this shake that thing I mean comon its getting old, that is why this CD is good. You usually have to listen to the words of the song and he made some nice rayms. Of the 16 songs I need to say 5 of them are great. Which for a CD is very nice. If you do not like that entire game of none sense, I would go with this one. It's only $10, good price.
He has not fogetten where he came from. This is his best album yet. There is not a weak track on this album. Philly is in the house!!!
I couldn't get through this album the first listen becaue I had to keep flipping back to hear songs over again. He has a string of like 6 excellent songs in the middle. He's clever and funny, he preaches the truth, he "bleds into the mic" (especially on the 9-11 song). He's cocky, he's true to himself. Loved it.
You gotta love Will for his own unique style. While other rappers brag about poppin' uzzies and drugs and money etc. Will brags about his great career and you have to love that.
I felt people needs to see this review from a person who listens to mainly gangsta/hardcore rap music. I'm saying this now, I just gave Will a chance and got the album, und I was very suprised. A lot of people mistake Will for being a has-been just because he actually cares about the young community. He still taks about the same things everybody else, just without unnessecary profanity, he has his own style. This album has many potential club bangers, try to listen to Switch on a good system! I just hope nobody sleeps on this album. Tracks I recommend is 6/8 of the album.
FINALLY, a REAL hiphop album devoid of crude language and references to drugs, sex, and violence. I've been waiting for Will's new album for a long time; the wait has been worth it. Hopefully, this will surpass Born to Reign's record sales (which was really low). I'm praying that it does. He deserves it way more than the other mainstream rappers that spew out their garbage on every album.
