In her brand-new series, Brenda Jackson welcomes you to Catalina Cove, where even the biggest heartbreaks can be healed…

In the wake of a devastating teen pregnancy that left her childless and heartbroken, Vashti Alcindor left Catalina Cove, Louisiana, with no plans to return. Now, over a decade later, Vashti reluctantly finds herself back in her hometown after inheriting her aunt’s B and B. Her homecoming gets off to a rocky start when the new sheriff, Sawyer Grisham, pulls her over for speeding, and things go downhill from there.

The B and B, a place she’d always found refuge in when it seemed like the whole world was against her, has fallen into disrepair. When a surprising benefactor encourages Vashti to reopen the B and B, Vashti embraces a fresh start, and soon old hurts begin to fade as she makes new memories with the town—and its handsome sheriff…

But some pasts are too big to escape, and when a bombshell of a secret changes everything she thought was true, Vashti is left reeling. With Sawyer and his teenage daughter determined to see her through the storm, though, she’s learning family isn’t always a matter of blood—sometimes it’s a matter of heart.

Vashti Alcindor left Catalina Cove after a devastating pregnancy left her childless and heartbroken. After university, she moved to New York City and vowed to never return home. Unfortunately, she finds herself returning when she inherits her aunt's Bed and Breakfast. Her return does not go as well as she thought when she is given a ticket by the new sheriff, Sawyer Grisham, and her bid to sell the B&B is thwarted. When she is approached by a secret benefactor to renovate and reopen the place, she decides to do that. She finds the old hurts are healing as she also finds the new sheriff not only sexy but also a big help. Then she learns of a secret that turns into a betrayal for more than just Vashti. Vashti has a lot to handle, but together with the sheriff as well as his daughter, she may be able to. Brenda Jackson packs quite a bit into the pages of Love in Catalina Cove. Secrets have a habit of never staying that way as Vashti and others soon learn. Both Sawyer and Vashti discover things that rock their perception of reality and what they thought of their family. It is only with love can they come together and heal those betrayals. It is amazing how one thing can cause all the past to come undone. This is an incredible story filled with romance, love and betrayal. Once you start it you will not want to put it down as you are drawn into the web of the mystery, the secrets and finally the betrayal. Excellent from page one to the last page, you do not want to miss this one. It will stay with you long after the last page has been read.

An alluring and entertaining start to the new series by one of my favorite storytellers, Brenda Jackson. Ms. Jackson surely knows how twine the words together so that the reader gets lost in the world she has built, with the characters she has created. Love in Catalina Cove starts a bit slow to me, as the stage is set for the new series. The characters are intriguing, both the main as well as the secondary cast and crew are attractive people, the kinds you want to get to know, and spent time with. Vashti Alcindor and Sawyer Grisham might seem at the first look like the total opposites with a little in common, but as I got to know them better, that was proved wrong. They are both focused, hard-working, professionals. They are kind and considerate people, they both love kids, and especially Jade, Sawyer's daughter. They are passionate and loving, yet logical and forgiving. I liked the connection between them, the slow burn developing into an inferno, the sizzling flame into something meaningful and lasting. They both had faced loss and heartache in their lives, the tragedies shaping them to be the people they are today. The betrayals by their loved ones, the surprises in the plot towards the end of the story, are stretching my imagination a bit too far with all the coincidences and twists of faith. I'm still digesting them, not sure what to make of it all. Regardless, the Catalina Cove with its inhabitants captured my heart. They pulled me into their lives, and I felt like a part of the small southern town while visiting them, getting to know them, and learning about their lives and loves, joys and heartaches. A compelling and enthralling start to the new series ~ Four Spoons

Vashti Alcindor inherits her aunt’s B&B in Catalina Cove, where she grew up, and where she ran away from over a decade ago. She wants to sell the business and put her hometown behind her for good. Enter the sexy, widowed sheriff. Then secrets come flying out of the past, changing Vashti in ways she would never have expected. The secrets are not so surprising, and some are a bit too coincidental, but in the end, a good story is hidden among the unnecessary repetition by multiple characters of Vashtis’ background and overly emoted revelations. A good beach read, a nice weekend romance read, Catalina Cove also shares a bit of Creole history, as it’s set on the coast of Louisiana, with a creole main character. I was graciously given an early copy by Harlequin through NetGalley.

The first in Brenda Jackson's new series is absolutely a must read! Love on Catalina Cove is one of those stories that take hold of your emotions and don't let go even after you finish reading. When I read the premise, I knew I was going to fall in love Vashti's story. Even so, I wasn't prepared for the wonderful twists and turns that brought this story to life and made Love on Catalina Cove the best series opener I've ever read! Vashti has lived with a series of disappointments since her world changed at 16. She's carved out a life for herself in New York, but the death of her aunt and her inability to sell her inn brings her home to Catalina Cove. Instead of the disdain and gossip she expected she's met with open arms, a plea to reopen Shelby by the Sea, and the mystery of what really happened to the child she lost all those years ago. With the handsome sheriff, Sawyer Grisham, supporting her quest for the truth Vashti gains purpose and a future that doesn't seem as bleak as it may have before. I enjoyed every aspect of this story especially getting to know the residents of Catalina Cove. It's such a beautifully imagined place! You can just feel how the characters' histories have created a rich space to escape into. Catalina Cove is not only a melting pot of cultures and backgrounds, but a warm community eager for growth while maintaining its charm. I wish there had been a little more detail about the inn and how it fit into Catalina Cove, but I can understand how much of the story was taken up by the startling revelations Vashti uncovered. With its small town charm and plot that draws interest even beyond the sweet and sexy romance, Love on Catalina Cove is perfect for fans of RaeAnne Thayne or Brenda Novak. *ARC provided in consideration for review*

"Love in Catalina Cove" follows Vashti as an adult and all the revelations she has about her life and her past. When she was 16, she got pregnant with a boy she thought she loved and was seeing secretly. The whole town shunned her over the scandal of being a pregnant teenager- plus the fact that she refused to reveal who the father was. Vashti was determined to keep and raise the child- despite her parents' clear desire for anything else to happen. This event forever estranged Vashti from the town and put a strain on her relationship with her parents. She did become closer to her aunt, who ran an inn in town and who has now died, leaving it to her. However, her baby died shortly after birth. Vashti left the town and never looked back- until her aunt died leaving her with the inn. In her quest to sell it, Vashti must return to town to convince the zoning board to allow a developer to build a tennis resort on the property. However, when she returns, she finds the town has left her past behind- and she has loads of chemistry with the hot new sheriff. Sawyer has a 16 year old daughter named Jade who is the center of his world. When he had found out his girlfriend was pregnant, he had married her and never looked back. His daughter was born while he was on a military tour. His wife died a few years earlier of melanoma, and since then, it has been Jade and him against the world. He's never felt a desire to enter into a serious relationship- that is, until he pulls over Vashti for speeding (she was going 5mph over the 55mph limit- tough town!). The book heavily centers around the events of Vashti's pregnancy as a teen and what happened to her child/what happened in the past. We slowly get information about these events. From the synopsis and early book information, I got enough hints that I figured it out very quickly. In that way, I felt it was a bit predictable. That being said, it was still an emotional and engaging read. I completely felt for Vashti and her pain was so real and vibrant. I also liked Vashti and Sawyer as a couple with their directness and maturity. The town and people of Catalina Cove have so many secrets that the book contains many mysteries and reveals throughout. It felt at times like a soap opera- so much drama (and I'm totally there with popcorn!). Overall, I really enjoyed the story and getting involved in these characters' lives. I had so many feelings while reading it- be prepared to feel a whole roller coaster of emotion when you pick this one up! Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher. All opinions are my own.

Favorite Quotes: Scott isn’t the only guy I’ve loved that let me down. Therefore I can’t be one and done. I’m two and through. Ms. Gertie would also butt heads all the time with Sheriff Phillips, all generations of them, and was quick to remind them that she delivered them into the world and would have given them an extra whack on their rear end if she’d known they would grow up to be power-grabbing men. My Review: Oh what a tangled web vile and duplicitous snobs can weave just to save face. I enjoyed this cleverly knotted and intriguing tale, it progressed slowly yet I enjoyed every little twist and turn. The ending may seem far-fetched unless you understand the social influence and structure of small-town living, then it becomes all too plausible. The storylines were easy to follow, engaging, deliciously spiced, and pricked my curiosity. I am itching to uncover more about the secondary characters Ms. Jackson was taunting me with – she is such a clever tease! I was enamored with her large and varied cast and am primed for return trips.

Dramatic, romantic, and uplifting! Love in Catalina Cove is an engaging, lighthearted read that takes us to coastal Louisana and into the life of Vashti Alcindor as she meanders through all sorts of highs and lows, including a recent divorce, being laid off, reopening her aunt's B&B, a blossoming courtship, and returning to the hometown that shunned her following a teen pregnancy. The writing is smooth and effortless. The characters are strong, confident, and dependable. And the plot, although a little slow to start, is a heartwarming tale with a sliver of mystery that's full of tricky situations, tender moments, self-discovery, friendship, family, community, acceptance, revelations, happiness, slow-burning romance, and scrumptious blueberry delights. Overall, Love in Catalina Cove is a passionate, heartfelt start to this new series by Jackson that has a large, intriguing cast of characters that I look forward to reading more about in Forget Me Not (Catalina Cove #2) due to be published in Spring 2019.
